Energy Infrastructure Credit Associate
The associate position in the Energy Infrastructure Credit (EIC) group will be directly involved in the diligence, modeling, structuring, execution and monitoring of credit and structured equity investments in sustainable energy as well as in traditional energy and power investments. An Associate is expected to understand and identify key industry and investment trends and related credit implications for an investment and the broader portfolio. An Associate will liaise with senior Nuveen and TIAA personnel, management teams, financial intermediaries, investors and institutional LP and family and endowment offices.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
+ Participate in franchise and culture building activities such as recruiting, training and community events, Coach and mentor staff in the Analyst roles
+ Assist in the development and continued cultivation of client (borrower) and LP relationships.
+ Facilitate and coordinate investment with Nuveen and TIAA internal partners, management teams and institutional investors
+ Draft investment memorandums, due diligence reports and marketing materials, and other internal documentation by coordinating internal and external resources
+ Conduct extensive quantitative economic, industry and company research and analysis
+ Conduct and model a broad range of credit/sensitivity cases and due diligence for investment including valuation and liquidity analysis, capital structure assessment, acquisition finance and syndicated loan and capital market financing analysis
+ Evaluate risk/return parameters of investment
+ Financial modeling, valuation, comparable & relative value analyzes and market-specific analysis
+ Assist in financing structuring, underwriting investment evaluation, preparation, due diligence and execution
+ Work collaboratively with EIC team and internal Nuveen/TIAA partners to support business

Required Qualifications
+ 2+ years' investment banking, private equity, principal investment, credit research and/or equity research experience
Preferred Qualifications
+ 3+ years' investment banking, private equity, principal investment, credit research and/or equity research experience
+ Experience in energy, power, infrastructure and/or sustainable energy
+ Undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics or accounting
+ Knowledge of corporate finance, securities, financial markets and risk & pricing analysis
+ Exceptional skills in quantitative analytics, financial modeling and credit analysis
+ Aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative ideas and/or product solutions
+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
+ Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
+ Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas
+ Creativity and intellectual curiosity
+ Ability to work independently and must be able to work effectively in a team environment
+ Advanced proficiency with FactSet, CapitalIQ, Bloomberg, Microsoft Office

Base Pay Range: $136,000/yr - $175,000/yr
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
