    Job Description

    The Laboratory Assistant I will work in a high-volume, production-based environment, playing a crucial role in clinical lab science. This position is on the 3rd shift from Tuesday to Saturday, with working hours from 10 PM to 6:30 AM.

    Responsibilities

    + Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.

    + Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.

    + Perform scanning and data entry of specimen and patient information.

    + Sort specimens into their appropriate departments.

    + Assist with loading and unloading specimens on the pipetting platform, including capping and uncapping samples, labeling aliquot tubes, pulling errors, and sorting aliquots.

    + Ensure all lab equipment is functioning properly and perform minor maintenance.

    + Return specimens to their appropriate locations.

    + Perform discard and relocation of specimen racks.

    + Replenish test bench supplies as needed.

    + Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

    + Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety requirements set by CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory bodies.

    + Document all quality assurance activities including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.

    + Follow any other job-related instructions and perform any other job-related duties as requested by department management.

    Essential Skills

    + High school diploma or equivalent.

    + Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.

    + Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

    + Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

    + Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.

    + Must pass a standardized color blindness test.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Previous medical/lab or production experience preferred.

    + Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills preferred.

    Work Environment

    This position is in a fast-paced production environment with established turn-around times. The employee will handle biological specimens and may be exposed to blood-borne pathogens. The work environment emphasizes safety and adherence to regulatory standards.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract position based out of Agoura Hills, California.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $21.85 - $21.85/hr.
