Job Description:
Brown University’s Student Health Services aims to provide high-quality, patient-centered primary care. All services provided are confidential, easily accessible and responsive to each student’s individual needs. Collectively, the five Student Health and Wellness departments work together to provide integrated and holistic care to support students' physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Our pharmacy processes an average of 200 prescriptions and serves approximately 150 students each day.
We are seeking a per diem Pharmacy Technician to assist Pharmacist staff in all daily duties in compliance with State and Federal laws and Pharmacy policies and procedures. Your duties will include interpreting prescription orders, preparing and filling orders, providing courteous service to students, maintaining a clean and orderly pharmacy, and collecting and entering patient information into the pharmacy system. You will also manage incoming phone calls to provide information or direct students to the appropriate staff, manage and monitor inventory levels, place orders, and maintain appropriate cash and billing controls.
As a per diem employee, we’ll look to you to work on weekends from 9a - 4p and/or weekday shifts 8:30a -5p or 10:30a -7p to cover shifts due to employee absences, busy periods, or other needs. You’ll work an average of one 7.5 hour shift per week or 4 shifts per month.We typically plan schedules about a month in advance, except when coverage is needed on short notice due to unexpected absences.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
+ High school diploma required.
+ Certification as a Pharmacy Technician II required.
+ Maintain continuing education credits for Rhode Island and national certification.
+ Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy experience required.
Job Competencies
+ Excellent communication and IT skills.
+ Ability to work as part of a collaborative and interdisciplinary team.
+ Remain up to date on required trainings: HIPAA, FWA, PCI-DSS, Blood borne pathogens, hazardous waste training.
