    The Lab Technician will perform chemical and instrumental analysis on fuels, oils, and other lubricants using standard testing methods as prescribed by ASTM testing standards. The technician will handle analyses on new samples, prepare solutions or solvents for various tests, transfer samples within the lab, and maintain workbooks and equipment according to standard operating procedures and testing procedures.

    Responsibilities

    + Conduct chemical and instrumental analysis on fuels, oils, and lubricants using ASTM testing standards.

    + Analyze new samples introduced into the lab.

    + Prepare solutions or solvents required for various tests.

    + Transfer samples from one area to another within the laboratory.

    + Maintain workbooks and equipment daily, weekly, and monthly as per SOP and testing procedures.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in a lab environment.

    + Proficiency in sample preparation.

    + Knowledge of MS Office Suite.

    + Ability to perform math calculations.

    + Experience with washing glassware.

    + Familiarity with basic lab safety.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High School diploma is required.

    + Completion of one year of college chemistry and math or one year of related laboratory experience.

    + Ability to lift and transport 50 lbs.

    + Training is provided through hands-on shadowing.

    Work Environment

    The position is in an industrial lab setting focused on research on automotive products. The work schedule includes shifts from 6am to 3pm, 8am to 5pm, and 3pm to 11pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work. The lab environment includes a fuel/oil smell due to the samples. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided. The role offers an opportunity to gain true analytical lab experience to support career growth.

    This is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, Texas.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $15.50 - $15.50/hr.
