Description
Bridget Killen from Robert Half is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to support financial operations at a leading higher education institution equipped with Banner ERP software. This role is critical in maintaining compliance, delivering financial insights, and driving operational efficiencies within the dynamic and rewarding environment of higher education.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and reconciliations using Banner ERP.
+ Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
+ Ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and institutional policies applicable to higher education finance.
+ Perform grant accounting and manage fund allocations, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
+ Collaborate with faculty members, administration, and external auditors to provide financial data that supports decision-making.
+ Proactively recommend process improvements and automation solutions to enhance workflow efficiency.

Requirements
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required (CPA or master’s degree highly preferred).
Experience:
+ At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in higher education, nonprofit, or other regulated sectors.
Technical Skills:
+ Expertise with Banner ERP systems is strongly preferred.
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
+ Sound understanding of GAAP and compliance standards within the higher education sector.
Accounting Knowledge:
+ Strong knowledge of debits and credits to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliation processes.
Personal Skills:
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
