JOB SUMMARY:
The Accounting Specialist supports payroll and accounts payable functions to keep financial operations accurate and on time. This role processes payroll through our HRIS (currently UKG), prepares related reports, and helps resolve payroll discrepancies. The specialist also assists with weekly accounts payable and maintains organized records. In addition, this position provides general support to the Accounting Services team as needed.

COMPENSATION: $21.63 - $22.85 per hour (depends on experience)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Payroll
+ Verify employee timesheets to ensure accuracy and compliance.
+ Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies in collaboration with supervisors.
+ Process payroll accurately using the HRIS (currently UKG).
+ Transmit ACH and positive pay files to the bank.
+ Prepare and submit required ACA reports to the designated data collection site.
+ Generate and distribute payroll-related reports to appropriate departments.
+ Verify and update payroll changes in employee profiles.
+ Prepare financial vouchers for payroll expenses, deductions, and taxes.
+ Maintain and organize accurate payroll records.
Accounts Payable
+ Assist with weekly accounts payable processing for all companies.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Provide additional support in Accounting Services as needed.
+ Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
+ Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Accounting or related field.
+ At least two years of experience working in accounting, payroll, or a related field.
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
+ Ability to perform a variety of accounting and payroll duties using established procedures, with sound judgment in resolving routine issues.
+ Capable of working independently on regular tasks while recognizing when to escalate unusual situations to a supervisor.
+ Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and HRIS/payroll systems (UKG experience preferred).
+ Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct errors.
+ Solid math and analytical skills to ensure accuracy in payroll and accounting functions.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively with employees, supervisors, and external partners.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
+ Commitment to confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee and financial information.
+ Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and provide support to other areas of Accounting Services as needed.
+ Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, processes, and procedures.
