Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related solutions to customers around the world. Our main products include satellites and associated space components and services; military and commercial aircraft and advanced aerospace structures.
Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an experienced R&D Engineering Technician for our Core Engineering Team in both Magna & Clearfield, UT locations.
Job Duties:
+ Engage in the safe execution of tasks required in support of research and development and production for commercial, military and classified programs as the demand requires.
+ Maintain inventory (tooling, equipment, NEI material, direct material, SMI instrument, etc.)
+ Use of chemicals with proper PPE
+ Material handling & preparation (storage, thawing, cutting, kitting, inventory, traceability, etc.)
+ TC weld & verify / Vacuum port assembly / Vacuum leak check
+ Solid lamination / Bagging / Oven and A/C Cure
+ Sandwich panel construct / Bag / Cure (perimeter dams or tapered core)
+ Film adhesive and paste adhesive bonding
+ Composite Trimming, Drilling, Csk and Fastening
+ Proficient with SMI (Standard Measuring Instruments)
+ Execute work orders / Project assignments
+ Track individual metrics, maintain notebook, capture lessons learned and undocumented process details
+ Build pathfinder samples / tests / feasibility demonstrations / prototype articles with minimal oversight
+ Evaluate and participate in process readiness reviews for new programs
+ Generate operating procedures for new equipment and lab procedures
+ Provide input to new process documentation
+ Implement corrective actions and process improvements
+ Implement cost improvement initiatives
+ Train / cross train and assist interns / temps / new hires
+ Conduct administrative duties relative to project management
Basic Requirements for level 3 Technician:
+ High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years of composites, aerospace, manufacturing or related experience
+ Obtain and maintain a security clearance
+ Experience operating power equipment (i.e. machines, cranes, forklifts, semi or automated machines; industrial equipment, etc.)
+ Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
+ 6 years of composites, aerospace, manufacturing or related experience
+ Proficient with composite process technologies (i.e. bagging, lamination, bonding, etc.)
+ Knowledge of automated, CNC controlled equipment, technology and processing
+ Proficient with Composite material manufacturing technology of hand lay-up and cure, machining of composite components, inspection (non-destructive and laser inspection techniques) and composite assembly (including bonded and fastened assembly methods) experience
+ Willing to work unconventional shifts occasionally to complete assignments
+ Highly regarded by management and peers for composite knowledge and expertise

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
