    **Type:** Contract

    **Job Title:** Mechanical Engineer III

    **Location:** Hickory, NC

    _Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Hickory, NC_

    **Pay Rate:** Based on experience

    **Work Hours:** M-F 8am-5pm

    **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering strongly preferred. Candidates with more years of relevant experience who lack a Bachelor’s degree may also be considered. Minimum 5 years of experience required.

    Description

    The Mechanical Engineer III will design, develop, and integrate advanced automation and precision mechanical systems for manufacturing. This role focuses on creating reliable automation solutions, precision motion systems, and mechanical assemblies to improve efficiency and quality. Collaboration, problem-solving, and innovation are key to success.

    Requirements

    Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

    • Design mechanical components, fixtures, and automation systems

    • Create models and drawings using CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD/Inventor)

    • Apply precision motion control techniques with actuators, sensors, and motors

    • Support system integration and troubleshooting

    • Perform simulations, modeling, and data analysis for design validation

    • Document technical specifications and project deliverables

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent experience)

    • 5+ years of engineering experience

    • Proficiency with CAD and analysis tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, Matlab, Python, R)

    • Experience designing mechanical components and automation systems

    • Knowledge of motion control systems (servo motors, actuators, stepper motors)

    • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills

    Desired Skills:

    • Knowledge of robotics, actuators, and sensors

    • Familiarity with PLCs, HMI, and PLC programming (Ladder Logic, Structured Text)

    • Experience with FEA and CFD simulation tools

    Soft Skills:

    • Strong written and verbal communication

    • Ability to explain technical information to diverse stakeholders

    • Team-oriented, collaborative approach

    • Vendor and client relationship management skills
