Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field is required.
+ A minimum of five (5) years human resources experience providing guidance and consultation to management and staff in employee relations plus at least two (2) of the following areas is required: compensation, talent acquisition, talent management, learning/development, organizational development, human resources information systems, performance management, or employee benefits.
+ A minimum of at least two (2) years in a people management role within a human resources department or function.
+ Working knowledge of federal and state employment law/regulations is required.
+ Excellent client management, consulting, critical thinking/problem solving, data analysis, written and interpersonal communication, conflict management, negotiation skills are required.
+ Ability to self-direct and manage multiple client groups with conflicting priorities is required; ability to take initiative, anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation is required.
+ Strong presentation and facilitation skills are required.
+ Personal computing skills, including working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database management software applications are required. Working knowledge of AI tools such as ChatGPT and Perplexity is strongly preferred.
+ Previous experience using computer-based Human Resource Information Systems to access information and process transactions is required.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree and/or professional human resources certification is preferred.
+ Previous experience in higher education or public-sector environment is preferred.
Job Description
The Human Resources Business Partner Manager will provide strategic human resources support to units in areas including, but not limited to, employee relations, talent management, learning/development, compensation planning, and organizational design while leading a team of human resources business partners.
Job Duties
+ Provide leadership on, manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and grievances. In conjunction with leadership, create and implement strategies to foster positive employee relations.
+ Consult with leaders on day-to-day performance management practices (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). Make suggestions and improvements to the University’s performance management tools, practices, and templates while providing appropriate education to stakeholders on the same.
+ Provide guidance on HR policies and procedures and make recommendations on policy and process enhancements.
+ Determine the alignment of HR Business Partners to division(s) based on scope of work and resource availability.
+ Participate in regular meetings with division/department heads and management staff to ensure that talent needs/objectives are understood and being met.
+ Provide guidance and input on division/department restructures, workforce planning, succession planning, and other talent related initiatives/projects.
+ Collaborate with Compensation and Classification on position updates/changes and the compensation implications associated with the same. Ensure that requests from supported groups are aligned with institutional compensation programs, plans, and policies as well as best practices.
+ Serve as a liaison between leadership and Talent Acquisition on key searches and collaborate with Talent Acquisition on search strategies that will enable the attraction and selection of the most qualified candidates.
+ Identify learning & development needs for assigned divisions/departments and individual manager/staff coaching needs. Partner with the appropriate HR specialty functions on the development, deployment and facilitation of such initiatives as may be required.
+ Partner with HR Operations/ HRIS to understand processes and the communication/learning of HR operational policies to assigned units.
+ Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with HR specialty functions to develop solutions, programs and procedures.
+ Serve as a member of the HR Leadership Team and serve on project teams and/or University committees as assigned by the Chief HR Officer. Provide leadership, coaching, and development to HR Business Partners.
+ Perform other related duties as required.
