    The Office of MD Admissions at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is seeking seasonal **_Medical School Admissions Readers_** for the 2026 MD admissions cycle. This remote position is expected to work 20-35 hours per week and complete 60-105 files per week, from mid-October through mid-January, to support the application screening process. Readers will complete a thorough training led by admissions staff. After completing training, readers will support the initial application review for the MD Program.

Johns Hopkins MD Program receives roughly 8,000 applications annually for 120 MD and MD/PhD seats in an enrolling class. Incoming matriculants distinguish themselves as future medical leaders with a commitment to service and a passion for medicine.

    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    + Develop an understanding of the MD degree, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS), and the Johns Hopkins MD Program.

    + Review the AMCAS application, undergraduate (and potentially graduate) transcripts, standardized test scores, personal statement, essays, recommendations, and provide a thorough assessment and ratings.

    + Complete evaluations in accordance with department/division standards and timelines.

    + Attend meetings during business office hours.

    + Adhere to confidentiality, FERPA, and other policies and protocols consistent with state and federal laws.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    + Proficiency in basic computer applications.

    + Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

    + Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.

    + Ability to work effectively with admissions staff members.

    + Sensitivity to the needs of differing groups of students.

    + Knowledge and familiarity with college transcripts and curricula.

    + Strong analytical and reading skills.

    + Excellent time management and organizational skills.

    + Ability to meet strict deadlines, including weekly numerical targets for files screened.

    _Additional Information_

    + Current independent college, medical, or graduate school advisors, pre-health advisors, or admissions counselors are NOT eligible due to potential conflict of interest, also to be considered applicants cannot have a child currently applying to medical school.

    + Selected applicants must complete a confidentiality attestation, conflict of interest form, and other onboarding training attestations before being authorized to screen applications.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree

    + Must have a private computer and space to screen applications, and reliable internet.

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience evaluating undergraduate, graduate, or medical admissions.

    + Some related experience with higher education.

    Starting Salary Range: $19.75 - $35.35 HRLY ($23.00 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

    Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

     

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
