    Job Description

    We are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for a large insurance company in Des Moines, IA.

     

    In this role, the Senior Java Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying robust applications using Java 8, with a strong emphasis on XML data handling and observability practices—particularly leveraging Preemphasis. The engineer will lead deployment efforts to on-premises servers using tools like Bamboo or GitHub, ensuring seamless CI/CD integration and operational reliability. Beyond technical execution, this role demands a high level of independence and problem-solving ability, where the engineer is expected to proactively identify and resolve issues without constant oversight. Collaboration is key, as the engineer will work closely with a supportive and mentorship-driven team, contributing to shared goals through clear communication, customer focus, and accountability. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as priorities may shift and new challenges arise. The ideal candidate consistently delivers results, demonstrates technical and job excellence, and fosters a team-oriented environment where knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are part of the daily rhythm. This position will pay $60-70.

    Skills and Requirements

    • (80/20%) Front End vs Back End

    • 5+ years of Software Engineering or equivalent

    • 2+ years technical efforts and mentoring other engineers

    • Front End React/Next.js

    • Backend: Node.js/Java,.NET,

    • Middle ware: GraphQL/REST

    • CI/CD (Going to on prem servers)

     

    Experience with Deployments to on prem servers ( Bamboo, GitHub, Jenkins) • Java

     

    Observability – Dynatrace/Data Dog
