Position Description:

Performs supervisory and hands-on work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, and locksmith services. Responsibilities include supervising a work crew engaged in the installation, alteration, repair, and maintenance of fire protection systems and security hardware. Duties also involve direct participation in the service and troubleshooting of fire alarm and sprinkler equipment, as well as locksmith-related tasks. Work is performed under the general supervision of the foreman and is evaluated based on results achieved. May supervise other assigned workers.

Major/Essential Functions:

+ Install and maintain special systems and equipment such as fire alarm systems, conveying systems, telecom, kitchen equipment, life safety systems, hoods, VFD’s, etc.

+ Supervises the Installation, maintenance, operation and repair of building systems and associated equipment

+ Updates and maintains fire plans, and schematic drawings of special systems

+ Works with other trades and maintenance staff to complete maintenance and installation of other building systems

+ Prepare and submit work documentation, to include work order submission, changes to system (e.g. directories), etc.

+ Provides leadership to the special systems group in maintaining, installing and checking existing assets of the assets of the Institution

+ Performs all preventive maintenance on assigned systems and equipment

+ Coordinates the usage of the departmental vehicle fleet. Responsible for maintenance of the departmental vehicle fleet

+ Contributes with knowledge and skilled labor to construction and renovation projects of the institution

+ Responds to emergency calls during business hours, after-hours, holidays or weekends to correct or remediate the problem

+ Responsible for keeping all work areas, equipment and tools clean and in excellent working conditions

+ Must have and maintain valid State of Texas Driver's License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and insurance carrier. Must be able to pass the employee Criminal Background Check

+ Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position

+ Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes

+ Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution
