Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,200 retail units, operating in 23 countries such as Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Mexico and South Africa to name a few.
What you'll do...
At Walmart International, we are looking for a **Software Engineer III - Backend** with experience building services using Java and Spring Boot to help maintain the existing mobile applications and to guide development of the next generation tools. The right individual for this role must be capable of building applications in Java, using modern architectures with hands on knowledge in backend Frameworks and Cloud Based Technologies.
What you'll do:
As a Software Engineer III, you will be accountable for coding, prompting, debugging, and unit testing. You will develop high-performance, scalable solutions that support millions of Walmart International customers across supply chain management and customer experience domains. We seek engineers who are intellectually curious, passionate about technology, and motivated to deepen their domain expertise.
Troubleshoots business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing online documentation.
Participates in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, and user experience teams.
Your Qualifications:
+ Advanced expertise in Java and J2EE technologies.
+ Experience designing and developing RESTful web services.
+ In-depth understanding of design patterns
+ Proven track record in API development
+ Strong foundation in data structures and algorithms
+ Hands-on experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases
+ Knowledge of distributed and scalable systems
+ Strong collaborator focused on achieving results
+ Required skills: Java, J2EE, Spring, Kafka, Cassandra, Cosmos
+ Ability to rapidly adapt to and work with AI technologies.
+ Experience developing with any LLM model.
+ Kafka with Schema Registry
+ GCP and Azure cloud technology awareness
What you'll Bring:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 4 years of experience in software engineering or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field and 2 years of experience in software engineering
+ A visionary engineer or technologist with a passion for learning new technologies, programming wizardry, and translating them into working software
+ Experience with software design, development, and automated testing
+ An understanding of requirements analysis, design, coding, and unit testing of scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant applications
+ Familiar with agile or other rapid application development
+ Experience with design and programming across one or more platforms, languages and frameworks (Java/Python, Spring, Springboot, Microservice), data structure fundamentals and relational/NoSQL databases, Cloud Computing, Linux system and networks
+ Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
+ Analytical and problem-solving skills. Critical thinking and being able to think "outside the box"
+ An awesome programmer with high levels of creativity and quick solving capabilities to change the world in a huge way!
+ Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
+ Ability to work in a results-oriented, rapidly changing, dynamic and fast-paced environment that requires collaboration across multiple stakeholders and constituents
+ A passion for all things Web, including but not limited to, managing applications in the cloud, building and maintaining RESTful APIs, database design, development and maintenance, performance, analytics and monitoring
+ Experience building real-time data pipelines using Kafka
+ Experience in Cassandra and Cosmos
+ Experience with GCP, Big Data is a plus

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
