General Summary
Provides on-site leadership for the Public Safety Operations Center, directing real-time monitoring, dispatch, and mass-communication activities that protect patients, visitors, workforce members, and property across all WellSpan locations. Guides technicians, maintains situational-awareness technology, and ensures rapid coordination with internal public-safety teams and external emergency-response agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
+ Leads operations center shifts by assigning workloads, coaching and training security operations technicians, and adjusting staffing to meet system-wide call, radio, and alarm volume.
+ Supervises continuous CCTV, alarm, and geolocation monitoring for all facilities and WellSpan workforce members in the community, escalating incidents according to established protocols.
+ Dispatches security patrols, EMS ambulances, and other public-safety resources through computer aided dispatch and radio systems, and contacts county 911 centers when police, fire or EMS assistance is required.
+ Directs mass communication alerts for severe weather, external threats, or critical infrastructure disruptions, ensuring clear, timely messaging to affected areas.
+ Maintains operational readiness of cameras, radios, dispatch consoles, and incident management software, initiating service tickets and interim work business continuity planning when malfunctions occur.
+ Reviews incident reports and computer aided dispatch logs for accuracy, completeness, and timely closure; identifies performance trends and implements corrective actions.
+ Participates in after-action reviews of critical incidents, assisting in the development of improvement plans and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
+ Coordinates vendor access notifications and monitoring, ensuring adherence to established entry and escort protocols.
+ Participates in emergency management drills and live events, providing communications leadership and situational updates from the Operations Center.
+ Collaborates across Public Safety disciplines: security, property management, emergency management, and EMS, to deliver integrated, system-wide responses.
+ Mentors and evaluates operations center staff performance, providing feedback, coaching, and contributing to performance appraisals in coordination with Public Safety leadership.
+ Supports recruitment and onboarding of new Operations Center personnel by participating in interviews, selection, and initial training processes.

Travel Requirements:
+ Estimated Amount: 10% - Travel to sites across the system for protective details, trainings, meetings, or other supervisory reasons on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
+ High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
+ 1 year Experience in lead or supervisory position. Preferred
+ 2 years Experience in security or public-safety operations center, emergency dispatch, or similar environment. Preferred
Licenses:
+ Heartsaver CPR/AED within 90 days Required and
+ Certified Healthcare Security and Safety Officer Supervisor Level within 180 days Required
Courses and Training:
+ FEMA IS-100 and IS-200 within 90 days Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Basic computer skills and Microsoft applications (Excel and Word).
+ Excellent interpersonal/communications skills.
+ Transcription skills.
