Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for** **_all_** **.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

The US Construction Engineering department is responsible for the design and construction efforts for high-tech, large-scale projects for Micron in the US. Current high-profile projects include the design and construction of two high-volume manufacturing fabs in Boise, ID1 and ID2, and a third fab in Clay, New York.

Micron is hiring a Chemical Systems Engineer to oversee third-party design and integration of chemical delivery systems for semiconductor manufacturing. The role requires leading external design firms to ensure systems for corrosive, flammable, and high-purity chemicals meet strict safety and regulatory standards. The engineer will be assigned to the ID1 Construction Engineering Team for at least two years, then transition to the Operations Engineering Group for ongoing support and sustaining activities.

    Key Responsibilities

+ Oversee third-party design firms in the development of chemical systems, including bulk chemical storage, distribution, and point-of-use delivery.

+ Review and verify design work such as P&IDs, chemical cabinet schematics, equipment specifications, and system routing to ensure compliance with project requirements and codes (e.g., SEMI S2, NFPA, OSHA).

+ Conduct technical evaluations of chemical system designs, verifying flow capacity, material compatibility, containment strategies, and leak detection.

+ Coordinate with internal collaborators, construction teams, and vendors to ensure flawless integration of chemical systems with other facility utilities (e.g., exhaust, specialty gas, UPW).

+ Perform constructability reviews, risk assessments, and QA/QC checks on third-party designs to identify and resolve issues related to safety, code compliance, or operational performance.

+ Support commissioning and startup activities by reviewing test protocols, verifying system performance, and coordinating with vendors for equipment validation.

+ Use BIM tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) and control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA) to ensure design coordination and operational readiness.

+ Provide technical mentorship to design firms and internal teams, ensuring alignment with best practices in chemical handling and delivery.

    Minimum Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., PE, hazardous chemical safety training) are a plus.

+ 3–5 years of experience in chemical systems engineering, with at least 2 years overseeing third-party design or managing chemical system projects in industrial or semiconductor environments.

+ Solid understanding of chemical delivery system design, including pressure regulation, containment, and hazardous chemical monitoring.

+ Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as SEMI S2/S8, NFPA, OSHA, and local fire codes.

+ Proficiency in reviewing engineering deliverables using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks.

    Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience leading chemical systems in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or high-purity industrial facilities.

+ Knowledge of chemical technologies such as automated dispensing, chemical blending, or waste neutralization.

+ Familiarity with BIM-based clash detection and design integration processes.

+ Ability to mentor engineers and collaborate effectively with multi-functional teams.
