With a diverse array of test offerings within a centralized location, our laboratories offer a full suite of services without sacrificing turnaround time or compromising specimen integrity. Centralized data, readily accessible support, and collaboration between the laboratory and ordering provider reduce the time to a patient's diagnosis and treatment.

A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00am - 3:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

+ Perform advanced manual processing.

+ Interpret and accession reference lab specimens.

+ Collect and analyze data.

+ Perform body fluid processing using aseptic technique.

+ Conduct higher level accessioning in the Lab Information System (LIS).

+ Perform extensive manual processing for esoteric testing and non-Cleveland Clinic reference laboratories.

+ Perform all duties of the Laboratory Processing Technician II.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Associate's degree

+ Two years of lab experience. A total of four years of experience as a Lab Technician or comparable processing experience may substitute the education requirement

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Associate's degree in science

+ Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, physics or medical laboratory science. This may substitute two years of experience

Physical Requirements:

+ Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements

+ May require extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting.

+ Handles and transports bio hazardous materials.

+ Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.

+ Must have normal or corrected vision.

+ Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as defined in the exposure control plan.
