The Bone Density Technician is responsible for performing high-quality Bone Density (DEXA) scans in accordance with established protocols and safety standards. You will ensure accurate imaging and proper documentation while maintaining a focus on patient comfort, care, and safety. This role collaborates with healthcare providers to support diagnostic and treatment planning by providing clear and precise imaging results.
A caregiver in this position works days, 7:30am-4:00pm. Weekend rotation once every 5 weeks. No holidays or call.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Produce images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
+ Analyze scans and make preliminary interpretation of results.
+ Maintain documentation/database requirements to ensure that all technical data is entered timely and accurately.
+ Notify management and take proper action to address equipment malfunctions.
+ Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
+ Ensure patient comfort during and after the exam.
+ Report, immediately, any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
+ Provide instruction/mentoring to new hires and Radiology students.
+ Strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
+ Participate in off-site community educational events.
+ May be required to rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
+ Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing
+ Certification in Bone Densitometry (BD) required within one year of hire: R.T. (R) (BD) (ARRT)
+ Certification as a Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT) through the International Society of Clinical Densitometry required within one year of hire
+ Current state licensure required prior to employment
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ One year experience as a general Radiologic Technologist with BMD training

Physical Requirements:
+ Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
+ Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
Personal Protective Equipment:
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
