General Statement
Make history and join our college by transforming nursing education and healthcare in Montana. Through the generous philanthropic investment of $101 million from Mark and Robyn Jones, the founders of Goosehead Insurance, we strive to be on the top of nursing education through constructing five new campus buildings (one on each campus), the creation of five endowed professorships, student scholarships, producing more qualified nurses, and starting Montana’s first Certified Nurse Midwifery program.
The Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing ( MRJCON ) offers a baccalaureate in nursing, accelerated baccalaureate in nursing, Master of Nursing focused on clinical leadership, and Doctor of Nursing Practice with focus in family nurse practitioner, psych-mental health nurse practitioner, or nurse midwifery. The College has five campus locations across the state, located in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Kalispell, and Missoula.
The Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing is seeking a Director of Simulation that is responsible for leading the Mark & Robyn Jones College of Nursing’s simulation-based learning initiatives across multiple campus locations. It includes driving strategic planning, overseeing simulation curricula, ensuring compliance with national standards, and fostering faculty development. The position manages the operations of statewide simulation centers, conducts quality improvement audits, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to advance the program. Additionally, it plays a key part in securing funding, identifying growth opportunities, and supporting the Dean with fundraising and donor relations.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ This position is located on the MSU Bozeman campus to facilitate collaboration with MSUAF and the MRJCON Dean around activities with alums, donors, and other university partners.
+ Drive the long-term vision and strategic planning for the Mark & Robyn Jones College of Nursing simulation academic and technological priorities.
+ Serve as a key member of the Leadership Team shaping college-wide strategy in simulation-based learning.
+ Oversee the endorsement and/or accreditation process for the college-wide simulation centers.
+ Ensure simulation curricula across all academic programs is guided by evidence-based pedagogies and emerging technologies.
+ Establish common policies and procedures for simulation learning including standard operating procedures, simulation course(s), implementation, brief/debrief protocols, and evaluation of simulations.
+ Conduct quality improvement and efficiency audits of simulation learning.
+ Ensure simulation standards are implemented equitably across all five campus locations.
+ Foster faculty development regarding simulation-based learning and teaching through collaboration with various college, internal/external constituencies.
+ Oversee the operations of the five simulation centers located across Montana (i.e., Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Kalispell, and Missoula).
+ Ensure MRJCON simulation centers follow national and industry guidelines and standards.
+ Remain current with new trends and best practices in simulation and lead efforts to incorporate them.
+ Participate / lead / encourage scholarly initiatives surrounding simulation learning.
+ Work collaboratively with the Dean and Director of Administration and Finance regarding capital planning, budgets, and resources to support simulation learning.
+ Work with individual simulation centers to identify and purchase updated simulation equipment, in collaboration with the Director of Administration and Finance.
+ Supervise the work of the campus simulation coordinating faculty and provide feedback to Department Heads.
+ Directly hire, supervise, and evaluate simulation technicians (none currently on staff) and standardized patients.
+ Develop and maintain partnerships with healthcare systems, academic institutions, and industry leaders to support program growth and external engagement.
+ Identify and pursue revenue-generating opportunities, grants, and collaborations.
+ Support dean in fundraising and other outreach activities by meeting with potential donors, advisory boards, and others as needed including outside of normal business hours.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Masters degree or higher in nursing
+ Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator ( CHSE )
+ 2 – 5 years of teaching/instructional experience with adult learners
+ Experience in design, implementation, and evaluation of simulation learning
+ Program management experience including operations and personnel at multiple sites
+ Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills as both a team member and team leader
+ Willingness and ability to travel to all five MRJCON locations frequently (1-2 times per semester)
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ A doctoral degree in a healthcare-related educational field
+ 5 -10 years of clinical experience in healthcare or health professional education
+ Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity in areas related to simulation

+ Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

+ Work productively in team-oriented environments.
+ Maintain confidentiality of student and patient records and information.
+ Represent both the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing and the University and, thus, act in a manner which reflects positively on the College and the University at all times.
