    Position Summary:

    Oversees the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and operations of the optical microscopes will train users and provide hands-on assistance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Support state-of-the-art computer-assisted high speed optical coherence tomography (OCT) and maintain instrumentation and operate imaging equipment.

    + Communicate with and instruct equipment usage as necessary to researchers with various knowledge levels in imaging technology.

    + Communicate with suppliers to report problems, repair, or replace faulty equipment.

    + Data recording and bookkeeping.

    + Oral and written presentation of activities performed in the laboratory is expected for internal reports.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

    + Bachelor's Degree required in Science or engineering field, including Biophysics, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Physics, Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Advanced Degree preferred.

    Experience:

    + 5 years of experience in visualization modalities such as wide-field, TIRF, and/or confocal microscopy is required.

    + Specific expertise in optics and fluorescence imaging.

    + Experience with optics and/or microscopy.

    + Highly motivated and organized.

    + Must have strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

    + Ability to communicate effectively.

    + Ability to develop educational materials and conduct trainings.

    + Ability to use highly technical equipment.

     

    Work Experience Preferred: Familiarity with scanning or FIB-SEM electron microscopy and LINUX operating systems will be useful but not required. Expertise in electron microscopy useful.
