Job Overview

+ Setup, layout and operate various CNC lathes and/or mills

+ Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications and tool instructions

+ Selects, positions, and secures tool in tool holder

+ Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers or fixtures

+ Moves controls to position tool and work piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds and depth of cut

+ 1st piece inspection (check first piece/pieces per blueprints and BOMs)

+ Observes operation of machine and verifies conformity of machined work piece to specifications

+ Requires ability to read blueprints and precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers

+ Keeps work area clean and orderly

+ Discusses errors in diagrams or production order with supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly problems.

A Day In The Life

+ Performs any assembly-type functions, using hand or power tools

+ Set up and Operate 3 and 5 axis CNC milling centers and CNC lathes

+ Adjusts, trim and fitting parts to close tolerances

+ Follows visual aids (standard work) to ensure work is correct

+ Make up cartons, print labels, insert protective packing material, seal finishing product

+ Meet efficiency rates

+ Perform quality checks to ensure quality specifications are met

+ Reports defective materials or questionable conditions

+ Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition - 5S

+ Must be flexible to rotate job assignments within various work cells

+ Performs related duties as assigned by supervision

+ Work within all safety guidelines and wear all required PPE

+ Perform quality checks to ensure quality specifications are meant.
