Summary You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER in the STRUCTURAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will perform a full range of tasks including laying out storage space, establishing item and material locations in accordance with supply department regulations. You will maintain a valid state driver’s license to safely operate large trucks and a forklift. You will complete SUBSAFE/LEVEL I and Scope of Certification training in order to be qualified to handle all types of material. You will maintain good housekeeping practices and sanitary conditions. Utilizing basic mathematics, including daily use of numbers to store and locate stock. Communicating orally and in writing with co-workers, supervisory personnel, and requesting activities. Operating of material handling equipment including dollies, pallet jacks, hand-operated forklifts, riding forklifts and vehicles up to two tons. Performing general cleaning, policing warehouse and immediate surrounding area.
