    Snapshot

Bring groundbreaking AI capabilities to life in the Gemini App. Join Google DeepMind's mission to advance science and benefit humanity by solving intelligence. We're seeking an experienced TLM to provide technical leadership and build cutting-edge Gemini applications that will redefine how billions of users interact with AI. We are the driving force behind many of Google's most ambitious and impactful AI breakthroughs.

    About Us

Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity’s most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.

    The Role

The Gemini App is the interface for Google’s most advanced AI capabilities, spanning multiple surfaces including web, mobile, and smart devices. Our team creates the user-facing experiences that will define how millions of people interact with AI every day.

You are a product-minded mobile tech lead, passionate about defining how people will interact with AI on a global scale. You excel at leading teams to build and ship high-quality native applications (Android or iOS). You have a proven track record of owning the architecture for complex, user-facing features, thriving in the ambiguity that comes with building novel UIs for emerging technologies. As a deep expert in native mobile, you also command the server-side knowledge needed to design the APIs and supporting services that unlock powerful and responsive user experiences, all while mentoring the engineers around you to elevate their craft.

    Key Responsibilities:

+ Architect and implement foundational mobile systems and features for the Gemini App, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and performant.

+ Lead the day-to-day technical direction of a project team, unblocking engineers and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features.

+ Establish and champion engineering best practices and technical standards across the mobile team through design reviews, documentation, and direct mentorship.

+ Own the technical strategy for large, ambiguous product areas, breaking down complex problems into actionable plans and guiding the team through execution.

+ Serve as the primary technical point of contact for a project, driving alignment between engineering, product, UX, and other cross-functional partners.

+ Influence the direction of our client-supporting server infrastructure, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our mobile applications.

    Key Qualifications:

+ Minimum of 10 years of professional, full-time experience and expert-level proficiency in native mobile development (Android or iOS), with a history of shipping complex, user-facing applications at scale.

+ Proven experience as a technical lead with a track record of supporting and leading high-performing mobile engineering teams.

+ Experience leading the delivery of large-scale technical projects, defining team roadmaps, and making critical architectural decisions in collaboration with product and UX partners.

+ A passion for developing engineers, with direct experience in hiring, mentoring, and managing performance and career growth.

+ Excellent collaboration and communication skills, capable of representing the team and driving alignment with senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.

    About You

You are a seasoned mobile engineer who thinks at a system-level, consistently navigating ambiguity to deliver elegant and robust solutions. Your influence extends beyond your own code; you elevate the skills of the engineers around you through mentorship and by championing technical excellence. You have a product-driven mindset and a passion for craftsmanship, with a history of leading the architecture of successful mobile apps. While you are an expert in native mobile development, you also possess a strong command of the server-side, enabling you to design and build the supporting infrastructure that unlocks powerful client-side features. Familiarity with ML systems and LLM concepts is a plus but not required.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $197,000 - $291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
