Job Summary

The Unit Safety Manager will be responsible for reducing claims and lost time injuries by

providing safety and workers compensation support to the local units. The support provided will

include: Training, site visits, inspections, implementation of policies and

procedures, communication, and compliance with client requirements. This will be accomplished

through routine meetings, conference calls, and on site visits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

+ Ensures that units have effective "on-going" safety awareness programs to promote a safework environment.

+ Complies with all Client administrative and incident investigation programs, commonlyreferred to as Safety Nets

+ Provides training to managers to follow safe work practices and maintain a safe workingenvironment through training, presentations, conference calls, and the distribution ofsafety materials.

+ Ensures that local management receive monthly status reports.

+ Trains local management in proper methods of investigation, and inspection format;compliance with safety laws and regulations; fire evacuation; and self-inspections. (Asrequired by the Client)

+ Conducts "Safety" inspections oflocal facilities for hazards as well as walk-throughvisits, commonly referred to as Quarterly Safety Inspections.

+ Follows OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations as defined by federal, state, local laws and

+ Compass Support Services and client's policies/procedures.

+ Maintains OSHA recordkeeping; with assistance from corporate Risk Management, theposition will determine reportable illnesses and injuries; position will prepare reports forall campus sites on a regular basis; position will prepare annual reports.

+ Actively monitors/ inspects the workplace to detennine the presence of hazards and takeappropriate action to rectify any hazards found, specifically related to manifests andcentral accumulation inspection areas.

+ Monitors and reports on workers' compensation claim trends and develop strategies thataddress in jury management.

+ Ensures the activities associated with the successful return to work of injured workers arecoordinated and implemented to minimize absence from work.

+ QUALIFICATIONS

+ EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

+ Bachelor's degree, equivalent degree or equivalent related experience. One (1) to three (3)years' experience as an Safety Manager representative in a small company or supporting a lineBusiness Unit.
