Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Claims Director for one of our nonprofit clients privately funded and publicly managed, that anchors the California market for residential earthquake insurance. Our client is the largest provider of residential earthquake insurance, issuing the clear majority of residential earthquake insurance policies in California. The ideal candidate will be local to Sacramento, CA, but we are open to someone who is based in California. This will be a long-term contract, operating very similarly to a full-time role with benefits, and paid time off.
As the Claims Director of the California Wildfire Fund, you will oversee the claims administration policies and procedures of the Fund and assure that payments from the fund are appropriate. The Claims Director will collaborate with claims review service provider(s) staff and ensure all claim reviews are timely, accurate, and follow the Fund’s written procedures. You will liaise with the participating utilities regularly on matters related to claims administration to understand each participating utility’s wildfire claims practices and procedures. The Claims Director is also responsible for timely and detailed reporting and presentations to the overseeing council.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Implementation of the Fund's Claims Administration Procedures, primarily overseeing the claims review and payments processes of third-party claims submitted by participating utilities for reimbursement by the Fund.
- Maintain and revise the claims administration policies and procedures as needed to achieve an adequate level of performance by claims services provider(s), other vendors, and administrator staff.
- Management of the claims review service provider(s) to ensure that claims are satisfactorily evaluated, and payments are accurate and timely for reimbursement of eligible claims.

Skills and Requirements
- 10+ years of experience with insurance claims
- Experience with first and third party liability and injury claims
- Knowledge of the litigation process and insurance liability best practices
- Experience managing claims for catastrophic events and casualty claims
- Bachelor’s degree required - Experience with wildfire claims
- Industry certifications
- Strong negotiating skills
- Comfortable working independently as a player-coach
