POSITION PURPOSE
The UW Information School is an energetic and fast-paced environment where we rely heavily on current technologies to meet the demands of the school and our constituencies. The Employer Engagement Manager is a member of the Career Services team and works to build and foster relationships with industry and community organizations to increase mentorship, internship, and employment opportunities for iSchool students in all five of our programs (Informatics, MSIM, MLIS, MUSE, and PhD). Reporting to the Associate Director for Career Services, this person will implement targeted employer and alumni outreach to promote iSchool students and engage employers on and off campus in a variety of programming, including recruitment, networking, mentorship, industry panels, professional development workshops, and workplace tours.
Additionally, this position works closely with the Career Services staff to provide leadership to develop career programs and services for targeted student populations and supports annual events such as the iSchool Career Fair. The Employer Engagement Manager will work closely with students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and other UW departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES
_Employer Relationship Management (40%)_
• Collaborate with the Associate Director for Career Services to implement initiatives that expand employment opportunities for iSchool students and graduates.
• Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with new and existing employers to strengthen the iSchool’s recruitment network.
• Coordinate employer engagement activities – including campus recruitment, job postings, career fairs, panels, networking events, and workshops – to support broader recruitment goals.
• Advise employers on recruitment strategies, including best practices for diversity, equity, inclusion, and international student engagement.
• Partner with university recruiters to build and maintain pipelines from internships to full-time opportunities, providing insights to guide planning.
• Maintain and update the iCareers LinkedIn page and employer contact database to support targeted outreach and data-driven engagement.
• Work with Marketing & Communications to develop campaigns that promote employer engagement at local, regional, and national levels.
• Monitor labor market and employment trends and share insights to inform employer engagement and student hiring strategies.
_Employer Programming (40%)_
• Develop and lead employer and alumni programs – including panels, networking events, resume reviews, and mock interviews – to create direct student engagement and expand career opportunities.
• Collaborate with Alumni Relations, iEngage, and Career Services colleagues to recruit and prepare employers and alumni for events that strengthen pipelines from education to employment.
• Plan, organize, and execute signature programs such as the iSchool Career Fair and Government, Library, Archive, and Museum (GLAM) Career Jam, ensuring broad employer participation and maximizing student access to professional networks
• Partner with Program Managers, Advisors, and Career Services colleagues to align employer programming with academic initiatives and student career development.
• Serve as the primary contact for iSchool RSOs and affiliated student organizations, in facilitating employer involvement in hackathons, panels, networking nights, and other student-facing events.
_Mentorship Support (10%)_
• Support iEngage in matching students with mentors
• Assist with marketing and outreach for the iMentorship Program
• Advise students on strategies and best practices to network and engage with recruiters and hiring managers.
_Data Management (10%)_
• Collaborate with the Associate Director for Career Services to administer the annual Next Destination Survey (NDS), tracking and reporting students’ post-graduation outcomes up to 6- months after graduation.
• Clean, analyze, and summarize survey data to produce annual reports on salaries, employer hiring trends, and industry outcomes for iSchool graduates.
• Contribute to the annual Career Services report by presenting data on employer engagement, recruitment activities, and career events.
• Coordinate with the University of Washington’s Career & Internship Center to share and align data related to the NDS.
POSITION COMPLEXITIES
The Information School Employer Engagement Manager regularly exercises discretion and independent decision-making authority while considering the cultural differences of our community and stakeholders. This position represents the Information School and approximately 2,200 students to employers. The position requires the ability to work in an intense, dynamic, and sometimes stressful environment. The position involves quickly determining priorities and multitasking. This position requires a flexible work schedule, with occasional weekend and evening hours.
IMPACT TO THE UNIVERSITY
The person in this position plays a central and crucial role in the success of the Information School’s 2,200 graduate and undergraduate students connecting with employers to find career opportunities. This person is expected to increase the effectiveness of Career Services and is key to ensuring that the Information School complies with Federal, State and University policies and procedures. The Employer Engagement manager plays an important role in the School’s ability to connect our diverse student populations to professional positions with local, national, and international companies and organizations and to mentors who can provide support and advice as they navigate the job search process.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, information science, communications, or related field.
• Two years of experience in career services, student services, recruiting, or sales and marketing.
• Familiarity with career development, the job search and hiring process, and local and national industry trends.
• Experience in program and event planning and management.
• Must demonstrate excellent communications, planning, and information technology skills.
• Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations and commitment to equity.
• Must be able to work independently, as part of a team, and to lead others.
• Must possess excellent customer service, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills.
• Strong data management skills and comfort working with and learning new technologies.
• Equivalent education/experience may substitute for all minimum qualifications.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience coordinating internship and/or mentorship programs.
• Familiarity with the unique hiring challenges for international students.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including SharePoint.
• Familiarity with Canvas or equivalent learning management systems.
• Familiarity with Handshake or similar career CRM systems.
• Familiarity with video/web conferencing technology such as Zoom.
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$62,112.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$93,168.00 annual
