Description
The Director of Strategic Sourcing is a key leadership role responsible for defining and executing the organization's procurement strategy. This executive works with key leaders to optimize the supplier portfolio, balancing strategic relationships with a flexible network of partners. A primary objective is to drive cost competitiveness and build a resilient supply chain for the Americas region within a global matrix organization. The director is also accountable for administering supply chain programs and ensuring rigorous compliance with U.S. government regulations (FAR, DFARS). This includes maintaining an approved purchasing system, managing audits, and overseeing subcontractor compliance, which is critical for securing U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) contracts.
Essential Functions:
+ Meets purchasing operational standards by contributing purchasing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying purchasing system improvements.
+ Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
+ Develops procurement sources by researching and contacting vendors; attending demonstrations; leading conferences involving suppliers, engineers, purchasers, inspectors and other company personnel; facilitating material inspection, substitution, standardization and vendor/company partnering.
+ Develops materials and distribution organizational strategies by contributing materials and distribution information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishing materials and distribution objectives in line with organizational objectives.
+ Directs purchasing organizational strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishing functional objectives in line with organization goals.
+ Coordinates with department heads to develop supply budgets, orders supplies, and oversees spending
+ Negotiate long-term agreement contracts covering items of major importance or magnitude.
+ Sustains competitive product pricing by negotiating equipment, materials, and supplies costs; discovering new sources.
+ Lead cross-functional teams and upkeep of key segment and supplier relations.
+ Will collaborate with Global Procurement to ensure the best value supply chain is implemented for all programs.
+ Drive continuous improvement throughout the Supply Chain function.
+ Maintain and improve the company’s Purchasing System to ensure compliance with DFARS requirements.
+ Develop and update procurement policies, manuals, SOPs, and training programs to reflect regulatory changes and best practices
+ Review and approve supplier and subcontractor documentation for regulatory compliance and proper flow-downs.
Position Requirements
+ Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field with 10+ years experience.
+ Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field with 8+ years experience.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
+ Experience with defense supply chains (Army and Navy) preferred
+ Experience negotiating win-win, cost reduction strategies with complex supply chains
+ Strong knowledge of expansion and use of Source-to-Pay systems.
+ In-depth knowledge of FAR/DFAR procurement and estimating processes.
+ Experience implementing or maintaining an approved purchasing system.
+ Experience supporting DCMA or DCAA audits, particularly CPSRs.
