    Job Description

    The salary for this position starts at $68,212. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

     

    1. Job Summary:

     

    The Accounting Manager performs specialized accounting tasks of moderate difficulty, including preparation of financial statements and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Provide accounting guidance to programs and departments throughout the association. Supervise accountant and accounts payable teams.

     

    2. Essential Functions:

    + Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including assuring timely production of financial statements, preparing journal entries for accruals, adjusting entries, related documentation and audit workpapers.

    + Serve as accounting expert for customer relationship management software relating to financial transactions.

    + Review and validate journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.

    + Supervise accounts payable operations including corporate credit card program, employee expense reimbursement and vendor invoice payments.

    + Assist with resolving escalated issues and identifying process improvements.

    + Supervise accountant functions and provide guidance for bank reconciliations and cash handling.

    + Provide comprehensive fiscal knowledge and accounting support to branches, departments and/or programs.

    + Assist in developing financial policies and procedures, creating consistencies, efficiencies and implementing best practices.

    3. Relationships:

     

    This position reports to the AVP of Accounting who reports to the Executive Vice President of Finance/Chief Financial Officer. The incumbent provides the Association with finance/accounting support and interacts regularly with Branch Executives, Program Directors and other Association Staff.

     

    4. Qualifications:

    Required

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

    + Minimum of five (5) plus years of accounting experience, with demonstrated understanding of accounting principles, methods, and applications.

    + Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience.

    + Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles, methods, and applications.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

    + Excellent organizational skills along with attention to detail.

    + Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines.

    + Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    + Proficient user of the Microsoft Office suite and spreadsheet preparation.

     

    Preferred

     

    + Experience with Microsoft Great Plains.

    + Experience with improving and streamlining business practices.

    + Experience working in non-profit accounting.

    + Bi/multilingual.

    5. Work Conditions:

    + Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

    + Must be able to travel locally for meeting, training and events.
