Academic Program Specialist (HEOa) - Student Recruitment and Engagement Specialist
POSITION DETAILS
CUNY’s Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) and Accelerate, Complete, and Engage (ACE) are comprehensive college degree completion programs. CUNY ASAP|ACE provides comprehensive and personalized support and resources to students that help remove barriers to full-time study, support academic momentum, and build a connected community. Support and resources include personalized advisement, career counseling, tutoring, tuition gap scholarships, and additional financial assistance to cover the cost of textbooks.
The ACE Program at Queens College (ACE QC) is seeking a Student Recruitment and Engagement Specialist to develop and manage broad student recruitment and engagement efforts. Reporting to the Senior Director for Transfer Success and Partnerships or their designee, in addition to the duties outlined in the CUNY Title Overview, the Specialist will:
+ Lead recruitment efforts for transfer students, including coordinating pre- and post-transfer engagement initiatives, conducting information sessions, and representing the program at college access and student success events.
+ Develop and manage the recruitment, onboarding, and orientation process.
+ Plan and implement engagement strategies in collaboration with the CUNY Central Office, ACE Team, and other college units to support student success, retention, and community building.
+ Coordinate and facilitate workshops on student success, campus resources, and co-curricular opportunities to enhance the student experience.
+ Track and analyze student participation in recruitment and engagement activities and monitor communications with students to ensure timely follow-up and support.
+ Connect students to campus and external resources, including co-curricular learning, leadership opportunities, and special initiatives.
+ Maintain strong relationships with other community college partners and other external partners to support recruitment pipelines and student transitions.
+ Assist with planning and execution of program events, recruitment strategies, and other related duties as assigned by program leadership.
+ Manage all program-related communications and outreach, utilizing a range of platforms, including but not limited to email, messaging, social media, website, and learning management systems.
+ Perform other student success related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience. An earned master’s degree in a related field may substitute up to two years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline and four years of relevant experience in higher education, college admissions and recruitment, academic advising, or student success programs.
+ Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments/units.
+ Strong understanding of the interconnectivity of key student success functions, including recruitment and admissions, advising, student engagement, and financial aid.
+ Experience using data to inform decision-making and for the development of internal program processes.
+ Understands the experiences of historically marginalized racial groups in the U.S in education, particularly Black, Indigenous, and Latinx groups.
+ Ability to establish inclusive and equitable working relationships with students and peers
+ Proficient computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Excel and Access, Student Information System (e.g., CUNYfirst/PeopleSoft), Student Success Management System (e.g., Navigate360).
+ Excellent organization, communication, and supervisory skills.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Participates in the daily coordination of academic and administrative activities of a College's specialized academic program under management direction.
- Supports program development, student service delivery, outcome evaluation and instructor/student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.
- Recommends, implements and evaluates strategies to expand program offerings
- Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management
- Develops and maintains relationships with various College offices to improve student and faculty services
- Serves as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures
- Oversees office recordkeeping; manages updates of program web and print materials
- May supervise office operations and/or department budget
- Performs related duties as assigned.
