Summary of Position:
This position supports the risk management department by providing analytics, claims and loss control reporting of various types for internal and external stakeholders. The analyst will develop regular metrics for leadership and will interface with outside actuaries on loss trends and studies, as well as insurance brokers and carriers for renewals, audits, and claims. This role is the subject matter expert on taking information from various databases to combine into actionable information right-sized for the audience.
This Position Will be On-Site in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Gather data for and prepare metrics required for insurance applications collaborating with other internal departments.
+ Prepare loss runs and claims data both scheduled and ad hoc, from the TPA and various other internal and external information systems.
+ Prepare monthly and quarterly reports illustrating risk management trends of claims, expenses, exposures, and TCOR for business partner support and education.
+ Develop, prepare, and distribute accurate safety and injury frequency rate metrics on a reliable and regular cadence.
+ Work cross-functionally with Asset Protection, Safety and Operations to create and maintain a dashboard of safety and risk metrics needed by operators to have line of sight into parametric.
+ Function as resource for outside vendors (insurance broker and claims administrator) preparing information required for insurance and claims purposes.
+ Serve as the subject-matter expert in the department for all reporting and analytics needs to support day-to-day activities, as well as research into trends and special projects.
+ Issue-spot while trying to support business needs, to find alternative solutions for data mining and/or more efficient solutions and report those findings to leaders in risk management.
+ Identify new sources of data and methods to improve data collection analysis and reporting.
+ Support efforts to develop a risk management information system.
+ Assist with the preparation of semi-annual actuarial review and reconcile loss data used by actuaries.
+ Assist with preparing complex budgets and forecast changes, including specific tasks such as analyzing financial data, preparing financial forecasts, and managing budgeting processes.
+ Provide day-to-day guidance to internal and external stakeholders on claim reporting issues.
+ Special projects assigned by Risk Management leaders.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree.
+ Experience with insurance carrier, third party administrator or insurance broker or experience in analyst role in a similar operating environment.
+ Analytical skills required to assemble and interpret claims, metrics, and loss data.
+ Strong attention to details, including regular follow-up on action items.
+ Advanced technology skills related to Excel including Power Query and insurance company risk management information systems for data visualization, reporting, and data management.
+ Ability to work in fast paced team environment, handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
Desired Qualifications:
+ Associate in Risk Management (ARM).
+ Accounting background.
+ Ability to use Power BI effectively.
+ Experience working with risk management information systems (RMIS).
+ Salesforce Experience.
