Description
The Semel Institute's UCLA TIES (Training, Intervention, Education, and Services) for Families is an interdisciplinary program dedicated to optimizing the growth and development of foster/adoptive children from birth to age 26, and their families.
Under the supervision of the Mentoring Program Manager, the Student Youth Mentor is responsible for providing support, guidance, and hope to clients of TIES via in person, telephone, email, or zoom platforms. You will function as a role model and will offer a perspective as a youth involved with child welfare that will normalize the foster and adoptive process and transition behaviors.
*Please note you must be a current UCLA student to be eligible for this role.
Pay Range: $ 18.60 - $40.00 hourly
Qualifications
Required:
+ Must be a current UCLA Student
+ Must be an adult adoptee or a former foster youth who resided in foster care for at least three years
+ Have had a positive experience with adoption
+ Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team
+ Discretionary skills to handle confidential/sensitive material
+ Ability to take direction and supervision
Preferred:
+ Experience with mentoring high risk youth or families
