Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for managing the efficient operation of machinery involved in the production process. Your role will involve stacking box blanks in the feed mechanism, observing the automatic feeding, folding, and gluing of box blanks, and inspecting completed work to ensure it conforms to work order specifications. You will also be responsible for packing and palletizing finished products, printing labels, maintaining daily time and materials usage reports, and performing preventative maintenance. Additionally, you will disassemble machines to maintain, repair, or replace broken or worn parts, perform housekeeping duties, and handle additional gluer operator tasks.

Responsibilities

+ Stack box blanks in feed mechanism.

+ Observe automatic feeding, folding, and gluing of box blanks to detect machine malfunctions.

+ Inspect completed work to detect defects and verify conformance to work order specifications.

+ Adjust machinery as necessary to correct variations.

+ Pack finished products into corrugated boxes.

+ Palletize finished products.

+ Print labels and maintain daily time and materials usage reports.

+ Perform preventative maintenance and disassemble machines to maintain, repair, or replace parts.

+ Perform housekeeping duties.

+ Install and adjust guide assemblies, forming bars, and folding mechanisms using hand tools.

+ Regulate tension on pressure rolls, synchronize machine component speeds, and adjust glue pressure.

+ Monitor glue pressure and inspect, stack, and case/shrink-wrap finished flat products on pallets.

+ Adhere to Safe Quality Foods (SQF), HACCP Requirements, Food Safety, and Food Defense/Fraud.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in production and machine operation.

+ Ability to stand for the duration of a 12-hour shift.

+ Capability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

+ Basic mechanical aptitude.

+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.

+ Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively in English (Spanish is a plus).

+ Mathematical skills to perform basic arithmetic, compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

+ Problem-solving skills to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.

Work Environment

Our facility operates 24/7 with 12-hour shifts: 3 on, 3 off, and 2 on, 2 off. We have approximately 160 employees, and the department works 6 days per week. The work environment is not climate-controlled, and steel toe boots are required. Safety equipment, including gloves, ear plugs, and safety glasses, will be provided. We emphasize safety as a priority.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.75 - $19.75/hr.
