**Location:** Woods Run Complex in Pittsburgh, PA
The **System Operations Center** **Training Specialist** provides support and expertise for the Sr. Managers of Transmission and Distribution regarding the progression qualification of Switching Dispatcher Trainees. Supports Switching Dispatcher Apprentices, Operations Center professional staff and departmental leadership in training progressions. Manages instruction and on-the-job (OJT) training progression for apprentices communicates effectively with union and non-union personnel, and documents and conveys progress to DLC and union Leadership. Works with the Operations Center Leadership to develop procedures and documentation related to tools and processes used by the Real Time Operators: Shift Supervisors, and Switching Dispatchers.
Responsibilities:
+ Manages the execution of Operations Center training program.
+ Manage the progress of Union Switching Dispatcher Apprentices through the program in accordance with applicable MOUs, contracts and/or any other agreements between DLC and the IBEW, including coordinating with Operations Center management regarding individual progress towards completing the program.
+ Manage the progress of Shift Supervisor non-union Trainees to ensure timely completion and preparedness for independently operating and supervising the operations of the DLC transmission, subtransmission, and distribution system, including coordinating with Operations Center management regarding individual progress towards completing the program.
+ Participates and assesses trainee abilities to independently operate via written, oral, and practical assessments.
+ Assists Training & Compliance with the review, modification, and execution of the Annual Training Plan, including drills, in compliance with all applicable standards.
+ Working with Ops Center Training Team, develop, schedule, document, and deliver training for new tools & processes.
+ Working with Operations Realtime management, Training & Compliance, OCRE, etc. revise and create plans, procedures, and operating guides.
+ Collaborate with Field Operations, Engineering, and Asset Management personnel and/or trainers to develop comprehensive training for the Operations Center.
+ Ensure applicable certifications are maintained for Switching Dispatchers and Shift Supervisors.
+ Working with applicable teams to investigate and determine root causes of events and develop permanent mitigation actions, such as safety events, operating events, compliance investigations, etc.
+ Assists management with identifying, tracking, and addressing trends related to safety, training, and performance.
+ Aligns with and supports overall Operations Center goals and objectives.
+ Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
+ 10+ years of related experience required
+ Equivalent experience and education will be considered in lieu of bachelor’s degree
+ 5+ years prior experience as a SOC Supervisor
+ Must have or obtain NERC & PJM certifications
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Knowledge of electric utility operations.
+ Experience leading a team.
+ Program management experience.
+ Working in a 24/7 utility control room environment with shift workers.
+ Possesses and actively maintains applicable certifications.
+ Working knowledge of applicable utility industry standards, codes, and practices.
+ Experience with Operator Training Simulators and Energy Management Systems.
Skills/Abilities:
+ Strong Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate across the organization.
+ Ability to analyze and develop strategies to efficiently schedule and manage programs.
+ Strong interpersonal and communications skills, organizational, and time management skills.
+ Ability to present in a professional manner and represent the company image.
+ Willingness to learn about best practices for human performance and technical training.
+ Team focused with a continuous improvement mindset.
Scope
In addition to daily deliverables, outputs and reporting, also considers and recommends longer term best practices to improve processes based on experience. Accountable for managing ones own time and work flow and may also lead functional project teams. Works independently, requiring guidance in only the most complex situations. Has well established capabilities, acts as a resource to less experienced staff on complex issues.
Decision Impact
Problems and issues faced are vague and require reasoning to identify root cause. Draws on significant past experience to perform role. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.
Hybrid Work
Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
Storm Roles
All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position, as duties can vary across the Company. _Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc._
Data Governance
Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
