We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team in a busy hospital lab setting. The position involves obtaining blood specimens and collecting non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. The Phlebotomist will perform screening tests, report results, and process specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing, as well as prepare specimens for reference laboratory dispatch and testing.
Responsibilities
+ Obtain blood specimens and collect non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing.
+ Perform screening tests and report results accurately.
+ Process specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing.
+ Prepare specimens for reference laboratory dispatch and testing.
+ Participate in hospital codes, arterial blood gases, and rapid response scenarios.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in phlebotomy, blood draw, and venipuncture.
+ Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required.
+ If uncertified, at least 6 months of experience or clinical training with phlebotomy practice on patients is necessary.
+ Newly certified individuals must have had clinical rotations or experience in a hospital setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with adult patients, with very few pediatric cases.
+ Capability to handle 50 blood draws on average during day shifts, 35 during evening shifts, and 25-30 in the first 4 hours of night shifts.
Work Environment
The position is based in a busy hospital lab setting, offering a long-term opportunity with a growing hospital. The schedule involves day, evening, and night shifts with specific draw averages. The role includes every other weekend work with a consistent day off during the week. The hospital is unique in the area for its burn unit, primarily serving adult patients. The work environment encourages career development and advancement within the phlebotomy path, supported by a new corporate development structure.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $20.00/hr.
