Job Title: Laboratory ManagerJob Description

Oversee the operations and administration of several departments within a LEVEL II laboratory environment. Manage the daily operations across multiple departments and handle the accessioning of 26-28,000 accessions each night. Align department metric goals and priorities with corporate, divisional, and laboratory-wide objectives.

Responsibilities

+ Relate professionally with people and utilize analytical abilities.

+ Compose letters and memorandums, coordinate events, and motivate others.

+ Employ organizational skills, research information, and manage time effectively.

+ Train employees and facilitate written and verbal communications.

+ Supervise a lab team consisting of 3 supervisors and over 60 employees.

+ Conduct disciplinary actions and lead the hiring process for new employees.

+ Serve as the main point of contact for all site operations.

+ Manage testing personnel following established standard operating procedures.

+ Assist with bench work and mentor employees and supervisors.

+ Manage Human Resource functions within the lab.

+ Identify problems affecting test performance and take corrective actions.

+ Document corrective actions when test performance is not within acceptable levels.

+ Oversee coordination of schedules, distribution of work, and usage of laboratory resources.

+ Develop and implement improvements to lab workflow.

+ Coordinate hiring and training efforts.

+ Ensure departmental policies and procedures are optimized.

+ Provide leadership to management and other laboratory staff.

+ Cultivate a culture of leading by example and fostering a team mentality.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's Degree required.

+ 5-10 years of management experience meeting CLIA requirements.

+ Eligibility for MT/MLT certification is a plus.

+ 5+ years of MT/MLT experience required.

+ Professional-level mathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills.

+ Knowledge of clinical industry trends and technology.

+ Excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Certification in MT/MLT is not required but is a plus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Chantilly, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $74000.00 - $104000.00/yr.
