    TRP050 Transportation Specialist 1 – 20404 Survey Data Specialist 1

     

    Pay Grade K

     

    $52,000.00

     

    JOB SUMMARY: Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental and traffic .

     

    JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: Under limited supervision, coordinate and monitor district location survey activities for quality control providing technical support and guidance to survey personnel. Verify that survey data is accurate and determine the course of action taken to make the necessary corrections. Maintain thorough knowledge of automated survey updates and computer software updates as they occur. Train survey personnel on the latest automated survey techniques, computer equipment, and software.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.

    STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate's degree in a related field OR One year of experience at position equivalent.

    AGENCY SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Possession of a valid GA driver’s license

    • Working knowledge of surveying procedures and electronic survey data processing and formatting procedures and associated hardware and software including Computer-Aided Civil Engineering (CAICE) and/or InRoads.

    • Demonstrated experience in performing necessary calculations associated with the surveying process

    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and monitor the automated survey process within a district

    • Demonstrated experience utilizing a PC workstation

    • Demonstrated ability to see detail in maps, charts, pictures, and graphs quickly and accurately

    • Demonstrated experience reading, interpreting, and appropriately applying written technical information or instructions related to the job

    • Demonstrated experience in composing and preparing job related reports and basic correspondence

    • Demonstrated ability to reason and select the appropriate principle or guideline to follow

    • Demonstrated ability to generate and evaluate alternatives and recommend effective solutions to problems

    • Demonstrated ability to train and provide effective technical assistance to other employees

    • Demonstrated ability to appropriately apply new knowledge and skills

    • Demonstrated ability to manage own time effectively setting well-defined personal goals

    • Committed to providing quality customer service

    • Experience researching courthouse and other government offices for tax maps, ownership records, deeds, plats and right of way information for a property survey

    • Experience in drawing survey plat using computer aided software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation

    • Knowledge of plotting bearing and distances for each parcel of land on county tax map

    • Ability to visualize directions, elevations, and scope of project

    • Demonstrates excellent oral communication skills

    • Expresses facts and ideas to groups or individuals effectively

    AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Experience researching courthouse and other government offices for tax maps, ownership records, deeds, plats and right of way information for a property survey

In addition to the interview, the final selection is based on the applicant’s work history and performance (documented in HR and/or Office files), PeopleSoft/employee status (i.e. rehire code), employee performance reviews, personnel file review (HR & Office Files), criminal background check, employment reference checks (including references and commendations from Managers and other relevant documentation) and, for supervisory positions, demonstrated leadership skills based on past and current work history will be considered.

    Good Employment Standing:

    In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing. Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
