This role involves managing professionals who are responsible for a wide range of tasks, including analytical assessments, preventative maintenance, and repair work on an extensive fleet that encompasses construction equipment, trucks, automobiles, and various hand tools. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, thereby contributing to the efficiency and safety of operations. If you are interested in this opportunity, we encourage you to apply today!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and directly supervising mechanics as they troubleshoot and repair a diverse range of construction equipment and hand tools powered by gasoline or diesel engines. This includes systems related to hydraulics, electrical components, heating and cooling, as well as both manual and automatic transmissions, exhaust systems, and drive trains. You will oversee the performance of state vehicle inspections and ensure quality assurance for the assigned equipment. Your duties will involve assigning tasks to mechanics, completing equipment work orders, and reviewing parts and time charges for accuracy. Additionally, you will be required to report any equipment accidents or damages without delay.
You will guide and assist mechanics in diagnosing complex equipment issues by utilizing diagnostic testing tools and procedures to accurately identify the necessary repairs. This role also involves directing the use of specialized repair methods and ensuring that the appropriate tools, equipment, or parts are readily available. You will supervise the repair of various motorized hand tools, including chain saws, compressors, jackhammers, tampers, hand mowers, trimmers, routers, patching machines, and heating kettles. Furthermore, you will play a key role in identifying training needs for the team and securing the necessary technical support, while also reporting any missing or damaged equipment as it arises.
Maintaining a clean and safe environment in the garage repair facilities is another critical aspect of your role. You will enforce the use of proper safety protocols and protective gear, fostering an awareness of work area conditions among the team. Proactive measures to prevent accidents and injuries will be initiated under your guidance, and any personal injuries will need to be reported immediately to ensure appropriate treatment and minimize the risk of further harm.
Your responsibilities will also include planning, assigning, prioritizing, and evaluating the work of your subordinates. This encompasses interviewing and selecting new employees, assessing their performance, approving or denying leave requests, initiating disciplinary actions when necessary, and determining training needs. You will provide coaching and counseling to employees, helping to resolve any issues that may arise. Additionally, you will supervise Tradesman Helpers, Welders, Semi-Skilled Laborers, and other personnel assigned to the shop, ensuring that all team members are effectively supported in their roles.
