Position Summary
Loss Control and Quality Assurance (LCQA) is seeking a highly motivated professional to champion process ownership and support the execution of Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s (MPC) loss control program. LCQA delivers comprehensive services for Marine Vessels, Terminals, Pipeline Systems, and Refineries at both MPC and customer locations. Reporting to the Loss Control Support Services Manager, this position collaborates with commercial teams to create data visualization reports, validate data sources and manage BI report workflows. Leading risk evaluation efforts, the role oversees the BI Report, analyzes data trends, and develops actionable insights for regional teams, including providing critical insights for strategy meetings. Safety is a core focus, with responsibilities that include aligning regional field activities with safety initiatives, scheduling department-wide meetings, and serving as the safety advocate in the Commercial Safety Program. This position also develops program and process documentation, identifies improvement opportunities, and ensures compliance with company records keeping and knowledge management guidelines.
Success in this position requires strong technical expertise, interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to analyze and interpret data. Up to 25% travel is expected but may fluctuate at times to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Key Responsibilities
+ Performs in-person and/or data analytic oversight of internal and third-party measurement transactions and/or systems to/from MPC.
+ Gathers data, documents, and/or prepares savings reports and updates dashboard/KPIs. Maintains supporting documents per MPC document retention policy.
+ Evaluates risks, investigates, and identifies Loss Control issues and improvement opportunities. Works collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and implement innovative solutions as well as action plan to improve Loss Control performance. Directs related reports and recommendations to appropriate personnel. Tracks progression of open action steps to closure.
+ Develops functional knowledge e.g., MPC Loss Control SOP, API, interpret/analyst data, reconcile system balance, MPC operation (e.g., Marine, Pipeline and/or Refinery), software and tools. Monitors and stays up to date with industry, federal, state, or local resources.
+ Supports the development and maintenance of Loss Control standards, processes, procedures, and custody transfer measurement systems; introduces new technologies to help the company minimize hydrocarbon loss.
+ Leads and/or supports investigations and audits to ensure procedural compliance relative to loss control and measurement standards.
+ Collaborates with internal teams, contractors, and third-party service providers to implement and maintain best practices in loss control.
+ Provides training and guidance to staff and stakeholders on loss control processes and maintaining operational standards.
+ Supports new business opportunity assessments as needed.
Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree required or five (5) years of experience in lieu.
+ Four (4) or more years of experience in Oil & Gas required.
