The Mobile Equipment Operator 2 WAEis a part-time, as-needed position responsible for operating a Mobile Workforce Center—a 40-foot, state-of-the-art unit equipped with two slide-outs and 13 computer stations. The unit is deployed in response to events such as permanent business closures, mass layoffs, or natural and other disasters that result in significant job losses.
The Office of Workforce Development (OWD) is a key division of the Louisiana Workforce Commission, managing programs in workforce training, job placement, apprenticeships, and business engagement. Through collaboration with local boards, educational institutions, and industry partners, OWD aims to improve economic mobility for job seekers and ensure Louisiana employers have the skilled talent they need, contributing to the state’s economic growth.

One year of experience in mobile equipment operations.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Key Responsibilities:
•Operate and transport the Mobile Workforce Center safely to designated sites.
•Set up, operate, and secure equipment, including leveling jacks, generators, HVAC systems, security system, radios, PA system, awning, wireless receiver dish, electrical controls, computers, displays, wheelchair lift, and sewerage system.
•Conduct pre- and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle and unit.
•Maintain operational readiness by inspecting equipment before deployment and maintaining checklists and records.
•Perform routine servicing of the vehicle (refueling, monitoring tire pressure, adding diesel exhaust fluid, etc.).
•Track and report working hours.
•Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
•Experience driving vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 pounds.
•Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) before appointment.
•Ability to safely operate and stage all unit components (generator, slide-outs, levelers, etc.).
Position Specific Details:
Appointment Type:This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE (When Actually Employed), limited to 1,245 working hours in 12 months. **Starting Hourly Pay varies, depending on experience.**
