Job Description
This position supports the General Manager in providing strategic leadership, coordination, and day-to-day management of the NMS Anchorage Airport contract. The Assistant General Manager partners with the General Manager to supervise staff, ensure operational excellence, and drive customer satisfaction, safety, and financial stewardship. This position may lead initiatives, supervise specific units (e.g., Mobility Assistance Specialists), and act as the General Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of operations and adherence to company policies and contractual requirements.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in directing and managing the business activities of the NMS Anchorage Airport Contract, ensuring alignment with contract terms and organizational objectives.
+ Supervise the Shift Supervisors and support in supervising Mobility Assistance Specialists
+ Maintain strong customer/client communications to facilitate issue resolution and acceptance of new services or programs.
+ Support and participate in a comprehensive safety program; promote a safe work environment.
+ Perform and coordinate administrative tasks to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and sound business practices.
+ Prepare, monitor, and review business reports (e.g., sales, inventory, budgets, operational metrics) and assist with financial analysis and cost control.
+ Support human resources activities, including recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and addressing employee concerns in collaboration with the GM.
+ Help identify effective solutions to business problems and assist in implementing corrective actions.
+ Analyze operational problems and work with staff to implement efficient, compliant solutions.
+ Ensure responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of assigned employees are clearly defined and understood.
+ Demonstrate professional leadership in communications, change management, decision-making, and problem solving.
+ Take on additional duties as assigned that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success.
+ Provide supervision and leadership coverage as required; may represent the GM as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
+ Assist in supervising assigned employees within the Anchorage Airport contract.
+ Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, evaluating performance, and implementing disciplinary actions as directed.
+ Support workload planning, assignment of duties, and performance management in collaboration with the General Manager.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
+ At least two (2) years of experience directly related to mobility services and/or airport operations.
+ At least six (6) months of experience in a key leadership role with supervisory responsibilities
+ Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.
+ Proficient computer skills; Excel, Microsoft outlook and Microsoft Word.
+ Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
+ Ability to pass SIDA Badge test, which includes an assessment of knowledge related to airport security protocols, access control procedures, and safety regulations in secure and restricted areas.
+ Ability to obtain an Alaska AOA Badge.To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
+ Successfully pass an FBI fingerprint-based background check.
+ Complete and pass a TSA Security Threat Assessment (STA).
+ Have no outstanding warrants or be able to provide documentation of their resolution.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic and outdoor conditions.
Noise level: Moderate to Loud
Description of environment: This is an airport setting.
Physical requirements: The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently pull/push cart and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, controls, talk or hear, pull/push carts, twist. The associate is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The associate is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Employees are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
