    Job Description Summary:

    *UP TO $5,000 SIGN-ON BONUS!!*

    *This is a full-time, evening shift position at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Eligible candidates will meet at least all of the required qualifications listed below.*

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

    • High school diploma, GED, or foreign school diploma equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma (required)

    • Must be at least 18 years of age (required)

    • Must be registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (required)

    • Must have a valid Certified Pharmacy Technician certification with PTCB or NHA (required)

    • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a CPhT (required) (hospital setting experience is preferred)

    • Good interpersonal and verbal skills (required)

    • Basic computer knowledge (required)

    • Technical knowledge of all pharmacy equipment, clean room equipment, chemotherapy processes, unit dose packaging, outpatient dispensing, and clerical and purchasing skills (required)

    • Work requires a high school level of skills and good communication skills. Work requires the ability to gather and interpret data in situations where the information or problems are not difficult or complex. Work requires the ability to exchange information and explain instructions and/or procedures to employees, patients, and others. Work involves following existing procedures and instructions, sometimes receiving assignments in the form of results expected, due dates and general procedures to follow (required)

    • Knowledge of compounding, pharmacy math skills, hospital pharmacy operations, medical terminology, and various drug names (trade generic).

    JOB SUMMARY

    To lead the workflow for all pharmacy technicians and interns. This includes collaborating with managers on interviewing, hiring decisions, training, evaluations, and maintenance of competency and time and attendance records. To assist the pharmacist staff in the performance of dispensing tasks, including compounding IV solutions; filling unit-dose carts, floor stock orders, technology dispensing equipment, and medication orders; timely delivery of medications. Serves as the lead liaison in robot and medication cabinet reporting and, in conjunction with department management, affect the appropriate changes and routine adjustment and allocation processes as site technician leadership structure may require.

     

    -General Profile -- Working supervisor of a clinical and non-clinical technical team; spends a portion of time performing the work supervised. Responsible for workflow allocation. Analyzes information to solve ongoing problems and implements procedures and approaches to complete work. Responsible for results of the team. Provides direction to team using extensive knowledge of established precedents and practices.

    Responsibilities And Duties:

    Provides lead direction for, and trains pharmacy technicians, interns, medication couriers, volunteers, and students

     

    Conducts this activity in full consultation with, and reporting to pharmacy leadership

     

    Provides lead direction for pharmacy technicians, interns, pharmacy volunteers, and students including oversight for onboarding and training of mentioned pharmacy team members

     

    Supports Pharmacy Leadership team overseeing and participating in daily operational task completion and referring appropriate personnel or technical issues to leadership

     

    Offers in the moment feedback to team members and provide sufficient document feedback for pharmacy technician and interns evaluations; oversee the duties of designated pharmacy team members

     

    Understands all system/local policies and procedures regarding operational tasks in the pharmacy technician workflow

     

    Actively communicates changes in policies and procedures affecting pharmacy technician workflow

     

    Provides sufficient oversight to ensure adherence to safety practices and standards

     

    Actively participates in all regularly scheduled department leadership meetings.

     

    Performs certain administrative functions under the supervision of the pharmacy department leadership team such as but not limited to preparing work schedules for technicians, interns, medication couriers, volunteers, and students if applicable, scheduling/conducting/posting minutes for ongoing pharmacy technician meetings under the guidance of pharmacy leadership, audits, and collaborating with other healthcare personnel/departments

     

    Active participation and oversite in recruitment, hiring, and training process: Collaborates in interviewing and hiring decisions, orients, schedules, and participates in training associates as needed

     

    Responsible for developing and presenting pharmacy technician in-services or training as appropriate

     

    Refers appropriate questions to pharmacist, including, but not limited to, patient drug dose, route, or compatibility questions

     

    Conducts essential responsibilities in a manner consistent with OhioHealth’s Core Values: Compassion, Excellence, Inclusion, Integrity, and Stewardship

     

    Must maintain awareness of the daily overall status of the department pertaining to technician workflow and address operational gaps as appropriate
