Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
+ BS in Aquatic Resources or related natural resource discipline.
+ Experience with sampling and surveys in aquatic systems such as rivers or lakes.
+ Experience with surveying freshwater mussels.
+ Experience operating a motor boat and handling kayaks Experience using MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
+ Ability to obtain a Texas boating license within first month of employment
Preferred Qualifications
+ Diver certification
+ Experience identifying unionid freshwater mussels
+ Experience with GIS
Job Description
Primary purpose is to work with Astrid Schwalb and collaborators to survey freshwater mussels, analyze data, and to assist in various research projects to support grant-funded projects. Grant specialist will also assist in managing lab activities.
Job Duties
+ Survey freshwater mussels and assist in various field and lab activities as needed.
+ Data analysis and drafting of reports and papers
+ Presenting information to funders, scientific audiences, and the public.
