    University Health Physicians (UHP) is the physician group practice for the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC) in conjunction with its major teaching facility. UMKC supports several residencies and many of our physicians have teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students. UHP is also the primary physician group for Truman Medical Centers/University Health in Kansas City, MO. known as “Kansas City’s Essential Hospital,” it is the safety net healthcare system for Jackson County/Kansas City, MO.     Job Description

    We are located in Kansas City, Missouri which is recognized as one of America’s Most Liveable cities.     Position Summary:

    The Department of Surgery at the University of Missouri Kansas City and University Health Physicians is seeking a **board-certified or board-eligible Surgical Oncologist** with expertise in the surgical management of **hepatobiliary, pancreatic, colorectal, breast, and other complex malignancies** . The successful candidate will join our multidisciplinary oncology team and play an integral role in advancing surgical oncology services, resident and medical student education, and clinical/translational research.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Provide high-quality, evidence-based surgical care to patients with complex oncologic conditions, including **colorectal, breast, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, endocrine, and soft tissue malignancies** .

    + Participate actively in multidisciplinary tumor boards, care coordination, and the development of clinical pathways for cancer care.

    + Contribute to the training and mentorship of residents, fellows, and medical students.

    + Develop and maintain an active clinical or translational research program in **surgical oncology, with opportunities in colorectal and breast cancer research** .

    + Engage in institutional, regional, and national service activities to promote the mission of the department.

    + Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives.

    Qualifications:

    + MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.

    + Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Oncology.

    + Fellowship training in Surgical Oncology and/or Hepatopancreatic Biliary, at an accredited program (or equivalent experience).

    + Eligible for medical licensure in Missouri.

    + Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activity.

    + Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical and academic settings.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Fellowship training in Surgical Oncology with experience in hepatopancreatic biliary, breast, esophageal, gastric, and/or colorectal cancer.

    + Experience with minimally invasive and/or robotic procedures.

    + A track record of peer-reviewed publications and funded research is desirable.

    The Department of Surgery at UH and the University of Missouri – Kansas City is entering a period of growth and academic evolution. The preferred candidate should be interested in an environment of academic professional development. Specifically addressing the clinical, teaching, and research missions. UHP physicians within the Department of Surgery are expected to teach and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students. The position will include an academic appointment at the University of Missouri Kansas City at the assistant/associate professor level (depending on experience and qualifications).
