Summary Purpose for the Position
The purpose of this role is to oversee and support landlord and tenant services by providing education, outreach, rental counseling, and Mobility Services. This role involves engaging with landlords and tenants to address property management, operational, financial and housing related concerns. This person will be responsible for educating agency staff on updated landlord and tenant programs and policy changes.
Requirements (Education, Experience, Certification, Knowledge, Skill)
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience. Must be experienced working a diverse population.
Position requires the ability to solve problems stemming from performance and administration of numerous programs.
Must pass the test for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Counseling Certification.
Must and be able to read and understand credit reports, provide budget counseling and determine elements and significance for the participant.
Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Works very closely with landlords and acts as liaison between the funding sources.
Works very closely with program participants, affecting their personal financial and organizational habits.
Must be able to work independently, have excellent written and verbal skills.
Must have computer proficiency and good working knowledge of Word & Excel.
Must have knowledge or be trained to use CounselorMax data management system and RDS.
Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
Position Responsibilities
Conduct Outreach to landlords and generate owner leads for programs
Coordinate with municipalities to develop outreach strategies when needed
Coordinate and teach educational workshops and seminars on fair housing laws and regulations and State of New York rental rights and responsibilities for both landlords and tenants.
Assist owners in resolving property management and operational issues
Manage and evaluate program progress against goals
Ensure all data entered into CounselorMax and RDS is accurate
Prepare all required reports for funder as directed by Assistant Director
Assist with research needed for grant and requests from funding sources
Must be able to organize and facilitate a staff meeting when needed
Performs other related assignments, special projects and works with other agencies as assigned.
Attend program specific trainings.
Establish management practices guaranteeing satisfactory completion of contractually require program goals.
Oversight of program budget and spenddowns
Working Conditions/Environment
Position requires flexible hours and may include nights and weekends.
Transportation Requirement
Position requires automobile, driver’s license and insurance.
