Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Software Engineer to support a federal client in Suffolk, VA. The Software Engineer will support the enhancement and modernization of a joint training application, with a focus on white cell control capabilities. The engineer will design, develop, and implement software to manage Non-Kinetic Effects (NKEs), enabling improved control, monitoring, display, and planning within the Joint Live, Virtual, and Constructive (JLVC) training environment. The role will require collaboration with system engineers, stakeholders, and end users to ensure the application remains aligned with evolving JLVC standards and integrates seamlessly with visualization and data dashboard tools. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and enhance software to support:
- Control of Non-Kinetic Effects (NKEs)
- Monitoring of NKEs
- Display of NKEs using modern visualization tools (e.g., Cesium-based execution maps)
- Planning and scenario development for NKEs
- Maintain compliance and align system architecture with current and emerging JLVC standards
- Implement performance improvements and optimization strategies for system functionality
- Develop software interfaces for integration with data dashboards and real-time visualization systems
- Participate in software design, development, unit testing, debugging, and documentation
- Support agile sprint planning, feature development, and software lifecycle processes
- Collaborate with system architects, testers, DevSecOps engineers, and operational users to ensure delivery of effective solutions
- Write and maintain technical documentation, software specifications, and interface control documents
Compensation:
$40/hr to $43hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Skills and Requirements
- 2 years experience with Bachelor’s in related field; 0 years experience with Master’s in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience
- Strong programming skills in one or more of the following: Java, JavaScript, Python, C++, C#
- Experience with geospatial visualization tools or frameworks (e.g., CesiumJS, Leaflet, OpenLayers)
- Experience developing web-based dashboards or integrating backend systems with visualization interfaces
- Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and DevSecOps pipelines
- Experience with containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD tools - Familiarity with JLVC or related Department of Defense modeling and simulation environments
