    Responsibilities*

    + Provides unit with daily monitoring of grants and contracts for Principal Investigator to ensure expenses are being paid according to contract.

    + Reviews, analyzes and negotiates standard sponsor grants and subcontracts on behalf of the University and investigators.

    + Interprets regulations and guidelines of program funding for moderately complex grants and contracts, and prepares renewals and periodic reports for grant agencies.

    + Partners with sponsors, clients, and departments on pre/post award sponsored research activities required for the submission, acceptance, management and closing of certain sponsored activities.

    + Assists with pre-award applications and may assist with locating sources of outside funding.

    + Participates in contract closeouts. Ensures compliance with sponsor terms, University policies/procedures and federal regulations.

    + Employees in this classification typically analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree.

    Required Qualifications*

    + A minimum of 3 years of related experience including, but not limited to, interpreting sponsor guidelines, completing sponsor and university forms, budgets and budget justifications, working knowledge of eRPM

    + Strong accounting background especially in the area of sponsored programs and federal requirements, understanding of ORSP, OMOR, and Sponsored Programs.

    + Managing sponsored, general, auxiliary, and gift funds

    + Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical and customer service skills

    + Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

    + Ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks

    + Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office; and proven ability to work effectively and efficiently, both as a member of a team and independently.

    + This position requires a motivated person who works well under deadline pressure and can operate responsibly and independently.

    + In addition, this position requires a high level of multitasking and prioritizing, managing numerous proposal submissions of varying degrees of complexity simultaneously with post-award financial duties.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + A Bachelor's degree in business or related field; a minimum of 3 years of related experience including, but not limited to, interpreting sponsor guidelines, completing sponsor and university forms, budgets and budget justifications, working knowledge of eRPM

    + A working knowledge of the University including M-Pathways, M-Reports, Business Objects, eResearch, FINPROD, and the NIH Commons.
