Position Title: Environmental Health and Safety Training Engineer
Classification: Exempt
Department: EHS
Reports to: EHS Manager
Position Summary:
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining all safety-related training programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices. This role focuses on building employee awareness, competency, and accountability in safety practices, including mobile equipment certifications, environmental compliance, and occupational health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire orientation, refresher training, and specialized courses.
+ Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations as well as company-specific policies and standards.
+ Conduct certification training and evaluations for mobile equipment (e.g., forklifts, aerial lifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
+ Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and compliance documentation in the company’s Learning Management System (LMS).
+ Collaborate with EHS and department leaders to assess training needs and update materials based on regulatory changes or safety performance trends.
+ Conduct audits, assessments, and observations to verify training effectiveness and compliance in the workplace.
+ Provide coaching and retraining as needed to address safety gaps or incidents.
+ Support incident investigations by identifying training-related root causes and recommending corrective actions.
+ Assist in developing safety campaigns, toolbox talks, and awareness programs to promote a strong safety culture.
+ Continuously review and improve training methods, resources, and delivery to ensure high engagement and knowledge retention.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
+ Requires occasional physical activity throughout shift (except breaks and lunch) such as walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, handling, near/far vision, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Education & Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Training & Development, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
+ 2–4 years of experience in EHS training, safety compliance, or related role in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
+ Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
+ Experience conducting mobile equipment operator training and certification.
+ Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively across departments and effectively influence safety behavior.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
+ Professional certifications (OSHA Outreach Trainer, CSP, CHST, etc.) preferred but not required.
