    The Role: Part-Time Evening Patient Transporter

    + **Location:** PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, Vancouver, WA

    + **Shift:** Part Time, 0.60 FTE, Evening (Wednesday–Friday, 1 PM to 9:30 PM)

    + **Salary:** $18.98 – $28.51 per hour, plus applicable shift differential pay.

     

    What You'll Be Doing: The Heartbeat of Patient Flow

     

    Your job is the essential human connection that ensures every patient gets where they need to be, safely and with care. This is a highly active role that keeps our hospital running smoothly.

     

    + Be a Patient Guide: Safely transport patients throughout the hospital using wheelchairs or stretchers.

    + Provide Comfort: Be present for the patient; use your time during transport to check on their comfort and ease any anxiety.

    + Coordinate Critical Care: Move time-sensitive materials like lab specimens, blood, and equipment between departments.

    + Support the Clinical Team: Help keep patient care areas ready by moving supplies, records, and linen.

    + Maintain Safety: Clean and sanitize transport equipment (like wheelchairs) to maintain infection control standards.

     

    Success Metrics: Your Impact on Patient Outcomes

     

    Your role is an absolutely critical, unsung hero of patient safety and satisfaction. Here's how your work makes a measurable difference every shift:

     

    + **Reducing Wait Times:** Your efficient and timely transport of patients to surgery, imaging, etc. **directly reduces patient wait times** and allows clinical staff to start treatment sooner.

    + **Improving Patient Experience:** The compassionate conversation you have during a transport significantly **boosts patient morale and reduces pre-procedure stress** , contributing to higher satisfaction scores.

    + **Enabling Clinical Action:** The swift delivery of critical specimens (like blood or biopsies) to the lab **accelerates diagnostic testing** , which can be life-saving in a Trauma Center setting.

     

    Qualifications and Growth Potential

     

    This is an **entry-level role** —no prior healthcare experience is required!

     

    + **Required Certification:** Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross prior to start date.

    + **Skills:** Must have great customer service and communication skills; basic computer skills are also needed.
