Position Description
This position is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating Neighborhood Safety Department initiatives; researching and planning new violence prevention initiatives; grant development; contract management; budget and financial management; community partner relationship development and maintenance; and violence prevention outreach and advocacy.
Working Conditions:
Office and field work.
Work Location:
This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
+ Project Management of contracts including developing and enforcing contracts, negotiating scopes and budgets, working with city partners to execute contracts, monitoring contracts, scheduling site visits and meetings, informal and formal monitoring and data collection activities, regular check-ins, tracking performance, implementing process improvements, conducting stakeholder engagement and communication, and approving invoices.
+ Provide ongoing technical assistance and training for contracted support and outreach providers. This includes the development of strategic modeling, outreach, and programmatic strategies for violence interventions, assessing the necessity of resources, and procurement of services and resources, training in various violence prevention model.
+ Represent the department in community including serving on a variety of boards and community coalitions, communicating current initiative activities, advocating for funds, and responses to community safety issues.
+ Identify and secure grants and other funding for department use, and take a lead role in the preparation of grant proposals for specific safety initiatives.
+ Review current and future violence trends and its impacts on various Minneapolis communities.
+ Collect and analyze on national data, academic literature, effects and impacts on a community level, and effective implementation of culturally sensitive and responsive violence prevention programming.
+ Community partner relationship management and technical assistance. This includes cultivating relationships with community-based agencies and non-profit organizations providing knowledge and service on specific violence prevention initiatives.
+ Interfacing with partners, including Minneapolis Police Department, Hennepin County, Minneapolis Public Schools, community agencies, and other stakeholders.
+ Building connections with community resources to support NSD’s safety initiatives.
+ Annual request for proposal (RFP) development. Review and analyze proposals and oversee funding of RFP.
+ Collect and analyze research about underlying causes of violence.
+ Represent the department in public health planning initiatives sessions. Facilitate planning around initiatives designed to improve the health and well-being of community members.
+ Support staffing of department and community advisory committees for ongoing violence prevention initiative planning.
+ Identify and propose the development of new partnerships.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Human Services, Biostatistics, Psychology, Social Services, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Youth Studies, Youth Development, Sociology, Community Health, Education, or a closely related field or equivalent experience will be considered as a substitute.
Minimum Experience:
Three or more years of related experience.
Equivalency:
An equivalent combination of education and highly related experience in a similar environment may be considered.
Selection Process
The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience (100%). Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. The City of Minneapolis Human Resources Department reserves the right to limit the number in any phase of the selection process.

Eligible List Statement
The names of applicants who meet minimum qualification and who pass the screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration. This list will be certified to the hiring manager who may use the list to fill a vacancy of the same job title. This eligible list will expire one month after it has been established.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Experience working in Project Management and community outreach.
+ Experience in working with populations with significant socioeconomic disadvantages, mental health issues, and traumatic life experiences. Understanding of vital resources needed to aid and care for this population.
+ Experience working in high-stress situations with individuals who often experience trauma stemming from gang and gun violence, homelessness, poverty, and other socioeconomic disparities.
+ Ability to work with, partner with, and communicate with individuals from different worldviews, life experiences, cultural backgrounds, and social classes.
+ Excellent communication and research skills,
+ Ability to coordinate and communicate proficiently between initiative partners.
+ Planning and facilitating skills.
+ Contract management and ability to identify and address the initiative's needs.
+ Excellent professionalism.
