_REQUIRED_
_Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, Business Administration or equivalent in related field required. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in health care setting with supervisory experience._
_PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:_
_Master’s degree in business administration, Health Care Administration or related field preferred. Five (5) years’ experience in health care, preferably in an outpatient setting, with supervisory experience._
_JOB SUMMARY:_
_To participate as a member of one or more multi-disciplinary management team(s) managing a medical practice(s) while delivering quality patient care and ensuring a customer service attitude among staff._ _The Senior Practice Manager works with the Area Medical Director(s) in the operation of the practice(s) in responding to the needs of the patient, clinical department, and Group Practice to fulfill the mission and vision of UTMB._
_MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:_
_•_ _Personnel Management:_
_o_ _Defines non-clinical personnel requirements and position competencies for the practice jointly with the practice management team and an Group Practice._ _o_ _Continuously monitors staffing levels and adjusts as appropriate to meet various clinical care and financial objectives._
_o_ _Promptly interviews, hires and orients non-clinical personnel in conjunction with the practice management team._ _o_ _Objectively evaluates/documents performance of personnel and takes corrective action as appropriate._
_•_ _Administrative and Medical Liaison:_
_o_ _Participates in group practice, clinical department, and hospital-wide programs affecting the delivery of care and business practices._
_o_ _Represents the clinical practice when meeting and working with other components of UTMB._
_•_ _Finance / Account Management:_
_o_ _Works with the practice management team to develop/modify supply, personnel, capital equipment, and special program budgets under the guidance of UT-MED Administration._
_o_ _Monitors revenue and expense budgets on an on-going basis and takes appropriate action to ensure practice will be within budget guidelines._ _o_ _Ensures appropriate information is gathered and transmitted in support of billing functions._
_•_ _Leadership:_
_o_ _Maintains a continuous physical presence within the clinical practice and responds to requests for assistance._
_o_ _Creatively identifies opportunities for improvement in all aspects of practice._ _o_ _Facilitates patient flow communication and problem resolution._ _o_ _Assists with implementation of policies and programs._
_FLSA STATUS:_** **_EXEMPT_
_o_ _Serves as a resource person and role model for staff._ _o_ _Encourages participation in practice activities._ _o_ _Assumes interim role on behalf of Associate Administrator in their absence when requested._
_o_ _Assist in the training and orientation of Practice Manager I & II._
_•_ _Program Development and Project Coordination:_
_o_ _Serves, as requested, on task forces, work groups, or committees._ _o_ _Networks with other departments and services to further program development._
_o_ _Leads/participates, as appropriate, in collaborative team approaches to developing and enhancing an integrated system of care._ _o_ _Works with projects to a timely resolution and completes assignments according to agreed upon deadlines._
_o_ _Updates the appropriate persons of the progress of the project(s) as appropriate._
_o_ _Works diligently with other departments on various projects as necessary or as assigned._
_o_ _Works with senior management on projects as requested._
_•_ _Communication:_
_o_ _Effectively communicates with medical, clinical and clerical staff to ensure the efficient operations of the medical practice._ _o_ _Effectively communicates with patients and visitors to resolve inquiries (billing, scheduling, et al)._
_o_ _Effectively communicates with other members of the practice management team to ensure the efficient operations of the medical practice._
_o_ _Recognizes the need and responds in a timely manner, to inform senior management of operational issues within areas of responsibility._
_•_ _Maintenance of Environment and Security:_
_o_ _Identifies and promptly addresses unsafe practices and other safety issues in the medical practice._
_o_ _Ensures staff participation in all fire safety, infection control and other mandatory training._
_•_ _Medical Office / Administrative Policies:_
_o_ _Assists in the development and implementation of medical office or administrative policies related to the delivery of care and/or business practices of the medical practice as appropriate._
_•_ _Continuing Education:_
_o_ _Actively participates in continuing education activities._
_o_ _Prepares and presents information to co-workers after attending special programs and workshops as appropriate._
_o_ _Accepts responsibility for personal professional development and demonstrates desire for personal growth._
_•_ _Other:_
_o_ _Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance._
