    JOB INFORMATION

    • Job Title: Plant Chemist I

    • Job Code: 127990

    • Job Grade: 38

    JOB SUMMARY

    Performs environmental and chemistry-related functions at a power plant to support efficient operation and environmental compliance.

    LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

    • Routine duties based on detailed instruction. Works under direct supervision. Responds to routine questions and problems within standards and guides. Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Company representative in Environmental agency inspections (e.g., EPA, ODEQ, Corporation Commission).

    • Performs basic water treatment operation.

    • Performs basic environmental compliance functions.

    • Serve as a technical resource to plant personnel.

    • Performs basic boiler chemistry control and cooling water chemistry control.

    • Ensures compliance with safety policies and promotes a safety culture by modeling behaviors consistent with Incident and Injury Free (IIF).

    • All other duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry; Or

    • Bachelor's Degree in Science with two years chemistry experience (i.e. Environmental laboratory, regulatory, Environmental consulting, equivalent military experience, Industrial Environmental, etc.).

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Required to work with multi-crafts crews and other groups.

    • May work under hazardous conditions where physical danger exists due to mechanical equipment.

    • May be required to work non-standard work schedules which includes overtime, weekends, holidays, on-call and call-outs.

    • May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.

    • May require travel.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

    • Demonstrates the ability manage plant RCRA waste.

    • Basic computer skills using MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Access).

    • Ability to read and understand environmental regulations, company policies and operating procedures.

    • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude in the use of hand tools.

    • Ability to take on additional responsibility.

    • Basic knowledge of the plants water treatment systems.

    • Basic knowledge in plant cooling water systems.

    • Basic knowledge of the plants environmental compliance and reporting.

    • Ability to communicate with individuals at various levels throughout the organization.

    • Ability to adopt and practice Incident and Injury Free (IIF) philosophy.

    SALARY RANGE

    $56,139 - $70,096
